This is a minor thing, but when did Florence Petty stop working? The lead currently has that she worked until her death in 1948, whereas in the body of the article, we read "Petty continued to work into the mid-1940s, when she was in her seventies". Heavy Grasshopper, I think we could change "Petty continued to work into the mid-1940s, when she was in her seventies." to "Petty continued to work until her death in the mid-1940s, when she was in her seventies." Might be more understandable in my opinion. — Davest3r08>:)(talk) 11:15, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if that would help. I feel like the underlying question is: did she work until her death, or not? In my opinion "mid-1940s" implies she retired before her death. Which would contradict the current information in the lead. Heavy Grasshopper (talk) 16:48, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Per the edit summary. In terms of pertinent information it doesn’t help readers beyond the opening sentence. - SchroCat (talk) 19:50, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that is true, since her major written work and birthplace and place of death are not mentioned there. There was no significant consensus on the lack of an infobox apart from a singular comment in the GA discussion. PhotographyEdits (talk) 13:37, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's quite true: please note the "pertinent information", which is the key part. Addendum: Just picking up on your second sentence there: no article is ever 'born' with an IB any more than any article is born with text, images, a choice of structure, citation style, whether to use a serial comma etc, etc - and there is no consensus needed for any of these things when an article is created. These things should only be added after careful thought and consideration on whether there is any tangible benefit to the reader. In this case, with the core information appearing in the opening sentence, there doesn't seem to be any such benefit. As it stands, the article is in line with the MOS on the subject ("The use of infoboxes is neither required nor prohibited for any article") and has been since it was first created. - SchroCat (talk) 13:44, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was one of the PR and FAC reviewers; I don't think there's much value to the infobox since as SchroCat says it mostly repeats what's in the first sentence. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 13:51, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
