There has been significant controversy about the new Sunshine Independent Athletic Association. It has been in several newspaper articles, and should probably be mentioned in this article.
Basically, the SIAA was founded by private schools that violated FHSAA recruiting policy, so that they could continue their recruiting practices. There has been legislation introduced in the Florida legislature that would designate the SIAA as the governing athletic body for private schools. This has caused significant backlash from private schools.
