Should there be a disambiguation page for "Food Fight" to differentiate between the activity and the video game?

Categories[edit]

I took a stab at adding categories, both highbrow and lowbrow. Not an ideal selection probably, but it's a start. Katr67 15:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Real life[edit]

We've all seen food fights in fiction, but is the actually any information on how common food fight in real life. I certainly don't remember any in my high school cafeteria.

Ivrea Carnival[edit]

The Ivrea Carnival didn't start as a food fight. It refers to a event in Ivrea history where the knights of the local feudal land owner were stoned out of the town when sent to abduct a local beauty on her wedding night. The organges represent the cobble stones used as ammunition by the peasants. The teams who throw oranges from the ground represent the peasants, and the horse-drawn teams represent the knights. There are many other symbolic features of the Carnival that refer to the story, such as the wooden posts burned on the last night representing the castle sent up in flames by the local population to show what they thought of the Duke. It is true, of course, that the modern form of this insurrection is unusual in that the ammunition is edible, which is very welcome on a hot day. Biger Issues[edit]

Needs a mention and/or reference to the Bugsy Malone Splurge Gun, and a disabiguation page to distinguish this page from the british tv campaign "The Great British Food Fight" by celebrity chefs Hugh Fernley Whittingstall, Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay. See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Fearnley-Whittingstall#Chicken_Out.21_campaign, and Jamie's Fowl Dinners. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.12.239.100 (talk) 19:14, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
