Intro[edit]

"Force India F1 is a Formula One team that came into existence after Orange India Holdings, which is a consortium of Watson Ltd. (Dr. Vijay Mallya) and Strongwind (the Mol family), bought the Spyker F1 team in October 2007 for 88 million euro"

Debateable that it's a new team. "Force India F1 is the new name for the Spyker F1 team" would be just as accurate would it not? --kingboyk 14:12, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, depends how they did it, whether Force India F1, as a new consortium/business bought the spyker team and all its assets, taking on its contracts (including its spot on the grid) or whether it is still operated as the same registered company. Havn't looked at any specifics to be honest. Narson 14:58, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I'm not proposing that they share an article by the way (it would get too confusing), just wondered if the lead could be a bit clearer that this is at least partly a continuation of an old team... --kingboyk 15:11, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The convention to date has been to treat a combined change of ownership and name as a new team (like Toleman/Benetton Formula/post-2000 Renault F1 or Stewart Grand Prix/Jaguar Racing/Red Bull Racing). I have to admit that 'Jordan/Midland/Spyker/Force India' is starting to stretch that convention, with four different names and nationalities in as many years! Hopefully, for the sake of the team, this trend will stop now. If this kind of rapid change becomes the norm we may need to reconsider how we handle it. 4u1e 16:30, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
:) Righto, thanks. --kingboyk 13:15, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please someone change Force India's logo. FIA forbid this one because it looks like F1, so the "I" is now minuscule. Fsarmony (talk) 14:55, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Results table[edit]

the results table for 2009 is incorrect. Fisichella scored his second place at the belgium race. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.79.15.25 (talk) 07:11, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's what the table says (the race labels are above the results). DH85868993 (talk) 07:33, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming[edit]

The team has been renamed to racing point force india- i propose renaming the article https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/headlines/2018/8/fia-approve-racing-point-force-india-to-compete-in-belgium.html

officially racing point force india are a new outfit, so have no constructors points, however they have retained most of the staff and all the assets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.205.39 (talk) 18:08, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This page shouldn't be renamed, we should have a new article. The FIA considers Racing Point to be a new entry entirely. Wicka wicka (talk) 12:16, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes difficult as their still be named Forced India and now they made a agreement they keep their prize money from last year. Also they confirm the name change will be temporary. They will be renamed next year. Similar like Spyker take over of Midland half way the season. To keep the overview I think is better to create a new page when they renamed for next year. Lobo151 (talk) 14:31, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If they are renamed again, we'll create another new article. At this point we do need to create a new article for the current constructor. Tallying up their results to the defunct Force India is outright wrong.Tvx1 20:51, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think the way we indicate the 2018 points and exclusion could be improved. There is no need to show that zero. The team we're talking about DID earn those 59 points, in the same way that other defunct teams from previous years DID earn their points. (Those points were not reassigned to other teams.)Hayttom (talk) 06:08, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hayttom They did earn the 59 points, but the FIA excluded them and removed all their points. Joseph2302 (talk) 06:22, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Summary Suggestion[edit]

Why in the summary does it have a new name link to Racing Point Force India when the team ended with Sahara Force India & a new team (Racing Point Force India) was created using some of the assets of the bankrupt team.
