TNT - NBA Playoffs[edit]

Somebody should add something about how their song is being used as TNT's NBA Playoff theme.

"Weak sales"?[edit]

The article says it has "weak sales," but I've been hearing that it wasn't intended to be a highly publicized "Top 40"-ish album. I'll admit I don't know for certain, but I just thought I'd throw out there that maybe they weren't going to high sales. And if that's the case, the term "weak sales" would be misleading, making it seem like the album flopped and failed to meet expectations.

I agree and will be taking that part out of the article. Just because it wasn't initially a big seller doesn't mean that it cannot do well, especially now that Where'd You Go is picking up in popularity. --SayCheese 21:42, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it's nice you're removing it and all, but that's not actually what I meant at all. It's just that from what I've heard, it sounds like they were deliberately leaning a little more towards the underground side, meaning they weren't going for chart-topping sales in the first place. Yeah, I don't actually know for sure and I don't have time to look into it right now, but I figured I'd throw that out there. And from my personal experience, it does in fact look like The Rising Tied is pretty popular amongst non-mainstream hip-hop fans.--Foot Dragoon 02:48, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean and you make a good point. Since the way it was worded made it look like low figures was parallel with failure was the main reason why I removed it, especially since that is only sales for the United States and the number is outdated. --SayCheese 01:46, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, from what I've seen of the default artists listed when I rip the songs off the CD, it seems like Fort Minor actually does refer to Mike Shinoda himself. I could be wrong, but the fact that songs like Red to Black are listed as being by "Fort Minor/Styles of Beyond/Kenna" leads me to believe that Fort Minor is in fact just Mike Shinoda.--Foot Dragoon 01:14, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

to all the people who think that fort minor is just mike shinoda. do some research, mike says that he called it fort minor because he didnt want to put his name on it for one reason because it wasnt only him it was only possible because of the many other artists involved in creating these tracks.

You have to realize that Mike Shinoda is pretty much the only common denominator in "Fort Minor". True, Fort Minor is officially referring to the project itself according to Shinoda, but for all intents and purposes, it's basically just Shinoda himself. Any other artist featured in a track, including Styles of Beyond, is separately listed as having collaborated in it rather than just having "Fort Minor" slapped onto every track. Not to mention Mike Shinoda's name is also completely absent and the tracks that have only him are just labeled as by "Fort Minor". --Foot Dragoon 06:26, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shinoda's goal for the project was to create music while having fun with his friends rather than to showcase the hottest names in hip hop.

The music does not focus on material wealth, which often saturates mainstream hip hop, and instead focuses on real-life issues.

This whole little blurb just needs to be...changed. Maybe you could keep the quote by Shinoda somewhere, but I think everything else just needs to go. Especially that bit about how the music "does not focus on material wealth" and "focuses on real-life issues." The video for "Kenji" that was submitted wasn't an official video, just a bunch of pictures. I removed it.

Don't delete it. Incorporate what you can into the article, then delete what you put in the article out of the Trivia section. Trivia sections aren't recommended, but if they've got good info, which this one does, then they shouldn't just be removed, unless the info is placed elsewhere in the article. Fort Minor Militia EP[edit]

I am so bugged out by this mysterium. The Official fanclub of Fort Minor is called Fort Minor Militia. But what the hell is this EP/Album floating around called Fort Minor Militia EP?! I can't find any official proof of its existence, but the strange thing is that it has some exclusive tracks that I can't seem to place in any single, album or mixtape related to Fort Minor nor even Linkin Park.

A torrent i found, called Fort Minor Militia EP have this, odd, tracklist (note the missing numbers):

The artwork frequently used for the album comes from the Fort Minor Militia Year One Fan Pack, and what that DVD from which the image is taken from actually contains can be seen on this image. Now, the big question is; Where do these tracks, such as the demo tracks and Kenji (Interview version) come from', since the Militia EP seems to be "fake". Are they even licensed? Are they leaked? "Where'd You Go" video[edit]

Formation[edit]

"Mike Shinoda joined Fort Minor as a vocalist." This is the first sentence of the article for the formation section. However, it only later states that Fort Minor was a collaboration between himself and Styles of Beyond. This was rather confusing to me when I read the article, and I'd suggest that it reads: 

"Shinoda joined underground hip hop band Styles of Beyond made up of Ryan Patrick Maginn (Ryu) and Takbir Bashir (Tak) to form Fort Minor."

or similar. As I don't edit many music articles, I thought I'd ask first. Please let me know if this is a good wording Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:17, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
