The sources box 2006 is unnecessary - there's lots of info out there on this great man.Red Hurley 13:14, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really? Cite, please?[edit]

...in "the Republic of Eer-ah" (a mispronunciation of Éire, designed to annoy purists)

Really? Annoy purists? (Purist translates as "Person who cares about something I don't care about and therefore offends me by not being of like mind to myself." It's a useless word, being nothing but a more sophisticated version of the six year old boy's "snot-nose" or "poopy pants.")

Sounds more to me as if it's making fun of stupid English people who refuse to learn to pronounce Irish names. If your interpretation is correct, give us a citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 32.217.42.12 (talk) 02:21, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As that bit is unsourced, I think it can be trimmed. I don't see that it adds a great deal. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:04, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Years active[edit]

I changed Years active in the infobox from "1968–2016" to "1968–2015", as the article does not present any evidence that he was professionally active this year. The most recent credit (although it is unsupported) is to the short film 69 and Dead ... Eamonn (2015), although I assume that was it's year of release, not necessarily it's year of production. Are there any sources that support a clear reference to his most recent professional activities? I think the infobox should reflect them either way. Thanks. Linking country of birth in infobox[edit]

I looked as WP:IMOS - MOS:IMOS BIOPLACE and saw this:

Place of birth, death etc.
The place of birth, residence and/or death of people who were born, lived or died before 1921 in what today is Northern Ireland should be given simply as "Ireland", and they should not be described as "Northern Irish". "Ireland" should not normally be linked, but if thought necessary should be linked as Ireland, not Ireland. For people who were born, lived or died in Northern Ireland after 1922 use "Northern Ireland", which will not normally be linked and should never be pipelinked.
For people anywhere else in Ireland at any time, "Ireland" should be used. Should pipelinking be considered necessary, Ireland can be used after 1922.

So does this mean: "Pipelinking Ireland can never be used for people born after 1922."? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:31, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that is correct. Use Ireland unlinked only for people born after 1922. Also, the Irish Free State ceased to exist on 29 December 1937, Frank Kelly was born almost a year later on 28 December 1938. Spleodrach (talk) 13:33, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Um, so might it be clearer if the advice plainly said: "Pipelinking Ireland can never be used for people born after 1922", instead of relying on an editor's interpretation? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:42, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
