Born to Mr. and Mrs. Knuckles?[edit]

Mention if he was born actually surnamed Knuckles or not please. Jidanni (talk) 03:12, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

he was actually born 'frank suckerpunch' he used the alternative name 'knuckles' as a fitting humourous tribute to his family —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.136.80.78 (talk) 15:25, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

too many fish[edit]

the song "too many fish" should be added to the page, if i am not mistaken it was a number 1 hit in danceclubs, which is quite an accomplishment. Stopde (talk) 04:50, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Real Name[edit]

There is conflicting information about his real name. The article presently says that his real name was Francis Nicholls and that "Knuckles" was just a stage name. However, the obituaries in both The Times and The Guardian [1] (UK national newspapers) say that "Knuckles" was his real name. Miscellaneous other sources (e.g. [2][3]) agree, but in other places the "Nicholls" name is given. What is the truth? 86.128.2.135 (talk) 02:21, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Guardian doesn't actually say what his birth name is anywhere. Do you have a link to The Times article? One of your other links is not reliable and can be disregarded. In the other, it's "UK house music kingpin Terry Farley" who claims that Knuckles is the real name (the author doesn't actually take a position)—again, we can disregard that. The New York Times obituary states that "Knuckles" was a family nickname (presumably because it sounds similar to "Nicholls"). The sounds far more plausible than having a last name of "Knuckles". howcheng {chat} 05:50, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Guardian doesn't actually say what his birth name is anywhere. Yes, it does. It says " born Frankie Warren Knuckles, Jr." The Times content is only avaliable by subscription. You can take it from me that the print edition says he was "born Frank Warren Knuckles". Obviously one knows that "Knuckles" is a pretty unusual name, and one would naturally assume it not to be his real name. That makes it more likely, IMO, that the newspapers wpould have checked it out. Of course, mistakes can be made. 86.179.5.145 (talk) 12:17, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There are plenty of sources giving his birth name as Nicholls - including this from 1999, so long pre-dating any article here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:35, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The Independent (another national UK newspaper) also says "Born Frankie Warren Knuckles Jr" [4]. It is strange that these three newspapers all got it wrong (if they did). Perhaps they all got the information from the same source, and that source may have been wrong. 86.179.5.145 (talk) 13:00, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is a chance that looking only at post-death articles is a circular task, as newspapers could well have used this Wikipedia page as the source for his birth name, which was at the time Nicholls in this text (or the IMDB page, which could have copied from Wikipedia). I would say that if we were to really investigate this, we would have to go off sources written prior to his death. Jeremy112233 (talk) 13:37, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's the wrong way round to explain the obituaries in question -- they say Knuckles was his real name, not Nicholls. Perhaps I am misunderstanding your point. Anyway, I would be dismayed if quality newspapers such as the ones mentioned relied on Wikipedia for their facts. 86.179.5.145 (talk) 17:58, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Discography errors[edit]

Main article (section Musical Career: 1990s-2010s) mentions a third studio album "A New Reality" released in 2004. This is confirmed by references 19 and 22. However, the album does not appear in the discography section, nor does it appear on the Franke Knuckles Discography page, despite the fact that two singles from the album are listed in the Singles section, and credited as being from said album. 2601:801:100:2CD0:ED41:D9AE:FB49:F7D (talk) 02:28, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
