      • Hello! Fred Penner is set to perform tomorrow, Saturday 7 July 2018 at the Nepean Centrepointe branch of the Ottawa Public Library as part of Tales and Tunes: Family Fun Day at the Library. Would you be so kind as to add this to the list of his recent performance dates? More information here: https://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/tales-tunes Thank you in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.234.223.97 (talk) 21:34, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 13 March 2017[edit]

Could you please change Fred Penner's marital status on right side-bar, beside "Spouses"? He and his first wife, Odette Heyn, divorced in 2011. Fred is newly married to Rae Ellen Bodie, (mentioned in main article as his partner), as of September, 2017. I have tried to find a media source to confirm this, but nothing has been printed. Thanks.

Married? Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 13 March 2017[edit]

Hello. Can you please change Fred Penner's marital status in side-bar on right side of his Wikipedia page? Please change from Spouse: Odette Graziella Heyn (1981-present) to Spouse: Rae Ellen Bodie (2016-present). Fred divorced Odette in 2011. As his marriage to Rae Ellen Bodie was recent, I have not found a link to its announcement specifically, but have included links of the two of them together (at the Junos) and his mention of Rae Ellen in a couple of articles: https://aestheticmagazinetoronto.com/2015/03/16/photos-recap-2015-juno-awards-mark-sea-change-for-canadian-music/2015-juno-awards-110/ - http://www.timescolonist.com/for-fred-penner-every-year-s-a-banner-year-1.2125156 - https://www.pressreader.com - THANK YOU.

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. - I don't doubt this is true, but if no reliable source exists, then we can't make that change per WP:BLP. Sro23 (talk) 05:59, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Do people not realize this is an encyclopedia? Would Encyclopedia Britannica publish content without any documented evidence? Would The Canadian Encyclopedia? (In 2001, Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger launched Wikipedia, a collaboratively edited, multilingual, open-source, free Internet encyclopedia)
Bodie is his "partner" - as stated in the article - but there is no evidence anywhere on the Web that she married him. On her Twitter page Bodie calls him "my fella" (March 6). https://twitter.com/raeellenbodie?lang=en Not "my husband". Peter K Burian (talk) 13:43, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please refer to the biography page on Fred Penner's official website for confirmation of his recent marriage - http://fredpenner.com/biography/ - in addition to the change in his marital status on his official Facebook page. Also, his wife Rae Ellen just today (March 13, 2017) posted a picture of the two of them at their wedding - https://twitter.com/raeellenbodie?lang=en - and refers to him as her husband. Hopefully these will suffice as "reliable sources" that support the change I have requested. Thanks.

Yes, 40 minutes ago, she revised her Twitter feed to call him "husband". I do not see any such info at http://fredpenner.com/biography/ I am not the person who has restricted edits on this page. Perhaps he should make the decision. Peter K Burian (talk) 22:31, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Mz7 Note for Ponyo: Your thoughts on this? Peter K Burian (talk) 22:33, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sro23 Your thoughts? Peter K Burian (talk) 22:39, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It does say he "recently married" Bodie on Fredpenner.com (must have *just* been updated, because the last time I checked (yesterday) that wasn't there). I think this would be acceptable, per WP:SELFPUB. I don't really know. Sro23 (talk) 23:01, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rae Ellen did revise her Twitter feed today, referring to Fred as her husband (which he responded to by calling her his wife), and Fred did indeed update his biography today and added in the confirmation of his recent marriage.

I'm sure you were, but there are zero sources stating that year specifically. You could further update Fredpenner.com to reflect this. Or, the most likely easier thing to do would be to have Fred tweet out something to the effect of "Hi, this is Fred Penner clarifying that I married my wife Rae Ellen Bodie in 2016". I *believe* twitter can be used as a source in situations involving living people making non-exceptional claims about themselves, so I think that hypothetical tweet would cover it. • I was pinged here by Peter K Burian. The tweet, combined with the update to the fredpenner.com biography page, are enough for me to say that it's okay to make the change. As Sro23 mentioned, WP:SELFPUB does allow self-published sources like Twitter and personal websites to be used for basic claims about the subject themselves. There's no reason to suspect that someone would lie about who their spouse is on their personal public website or Twitter account, so this is fine as far as verifiability goes.
