"FTV"[edit]

Who came up with "FTV" as the 'abbreviation' for "Free viewpoint television"?

It really doesn't work. "FTV" is an abbreviation for two words and "Free viewpoint television" is a three'-word phrase. The word "viewpoint" is not 'represented.'

A more correct/accurate 'abbreviation' would be FVTV.

Is there a precedence for "FTV" to be used as an 'abbreviation' for "Free viewpoint television"?

I think the confusion comes from the incorrect use of free viewpoint television. The phrase should actually be hyphenated Free-viewpoint Televison. Then FTV makes sense. - X201 (talk) 14:34, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
