AfD[edit]

I'm going to redirect this article to 2 Live Crew per the consensus at both the previous AfD discussions. There aren't new sources establishing the subject's notability outside the group, or an explanation of why the material is better covered in a separate article. If anything, the sourcing here looks worse than previous versions of the article.--Cúchullain t/c 21:35, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2018 Updates on the article[edit]

I re-opened the article circa 2014, because I thought it was a travesty that other members 2 Live Crew, Brother Marquis, and Fresh Kid Ice. It is also one of the reasons I joined Wikipedia. It was a debacle, plus now the page of their DJ Mr. Mixx, who created the Miami Bass blueprint, is now redirect. At the time I wasn't aware of rules regarding Wiki, and how it worked, so I have done my share of goofs within this debacle.

I believe Wiki editors have done a clear case of favoritism when it came to them, because otherwise Beastie Boys members, who have no solo attempts except the one who acts, would have re-direct pages.

They are lead vocalists, of a group during its prime, and that should have been enough for a page of their own. In the case of Fresh Kid Ice it is even worse because he is the first Asian American Rapper to rise to prominence and it was documented back then.

After the death of the rapper, publications came forward that he was the first Miami Bass rapper, and that his first solo album The Chinaman charted, who's also viewed as the first Asian hip hop album, which is not entirely true, but definitely the first Asian American hip hop album.

It wasn't my idea to revive the page where I put some hard work into, but one by an award winning editor that I supported. However I it took to another level, from that point. I hope this clarifies every discussion and doubt one may have about this page.Filmman3000 (talk) 20:58, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please tidy this mess of an article. There are far too many subsections and the section names are so long that they make the TOC unusable. 142.167.242.182 (talk) 03:15, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

July-August 2019 Updates/Edits[edit]

This article is well referenced, but was poorly written with a ton of overlap from the 2 Live Crew page. I re-wrote and cleaned up as much as I could, and removed some 2 Live Crew info (particularly concerning the obscenity controversy) that didn't deal specifically with Wong Won.

The Early Life section could be beefed up and the addition of a Personal Life section (was Wong Won married? Kids?) would help.

X-Rated Rydas[edit]

Apparently, Wong Won created a group with 2 other members, the X-Rated Rydas, around 2004. I first read about them in some postings Wong Won did himself on reddit in 2015 (I believe). The group has a page on Discogs with 2 singles released on Wong Won's Chinaman Records label: "Performing At A Club Near You" (2004) and "Ms. Thunder Thighs (Bootylicious)" (2008). I'm wondering if this is notable enough to include in Wong Won's page.

Also, that reddit article mentioned that Wong Won has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Can we use reddit as a source? Sundevilesq (talk) 21:32, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't see Reddit in Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources as a yay or nay. I suggest you bring it up to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard.
Regarding his group if you have the CD your possession, you can use that for citation.Filmman3000 (talk) 04:10, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
