"Hostiles" and "Friendlies" Neutral Point of View[edit]

This article constantly refers to the different side of the Dakota War of 1862 as the "hostiles" and "friendlies". I feel this violates WP:NPOV. I tried to go through the article and add quotation marks around these instances, but I feel like more could be done. Describing Dakota people that sympathized with European settlers as "friendly" and those that didn't as "hostile" is something that should be removed and edited. That's actually a very good solution for now. The big problem is that recent scholarship in the field was using those terms – for lack of another way to indicate that there were divisions and to explain military alignment on either side. (If you think about it another way, there actually doesn't have to be a value judgment attached to "friendly" or "hostile".) Cielquiparle (talk) 08:12, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
