About the name of the article

Wouldn't be better to name the article Galatasaray SK (men's basketball) or something like that instead of being changing the name everytime the sponsor changes? This is the fourth naming in four years. Gonzaka (talk) 16:25, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Galatasaray Liv Hospital → Galatasaray Men's Basketball Team – It's not logic to be moving the page year by year if the sponsor changes. I think a club like Galatasaray does not need the sponsor in the title of the article (like Fenerbahçe or Beşiktaş, so I propose to follow the Spanish club criteria. • Support Galatasaray (men's basketball). I've boldly moved Galatasaray S.K. (football team) to Galatasaray S.K. (football). It's more concise, and note that "team" and "club" are only really interchangeable in American English; this is also consistent with Fenerbahçe S.K. (football). Galatasaray SK (women's basketball) already exists at that title, so Galatasaray S.K. (basketball team) should just redirect to Galatasaray S.K. if anything.. --BDD (talk) 18:40, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

• Comment - don't we need some consistency between the article titles here? The proposal that seems to be on the table if In ictu oculi's proposal goes ahead is:
  • Galatasaray S.K. (article on the whole club)
  • Galatasaray S.K. (football)
  • Galatasaray (men's basketball)
  • Galatasaray SK (women's basketball)

And actually these are not the only articles concerned - the whole list is at Galatasaray#Departments. It seems to me that we should agree on whether the S.K. is included, and whether or not that abbreviation should have the periods in it, and then apply that consistently across all the articles concerned.  — Amakuru (talk) 07:45, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

The sponsor's names should only be included if this is the common name of the team, which is unusual in general and particularly unlikely with this particular article, see WP:official names and Galatasaray Liv Hospital#Sponsorship naming. I have posted [1] a courtesy heads-up at the article talk on the women's team, but as the proposed targets there (both article and talk) are empty it would IMO be quite proper to boldly move it too if we have consensus to do so here, there is no need to wait seven days after this courtesy post.
