WP:NFF[edit]

@Kailash29792: can you please explain how the film satisfy WP:NFF that state Additionally, films that have already begun shooting, but have not yet been publicly released (theatres or video), should generally not have their own articles unless the production itself is notable per the notability guidelines. Similarly, films produced in the past which were either not completed or not distributed should not have their own articles, unless their failure was notable per the guidelines. Can you please explain how the production itself is notable? please provide some source. Thank you. GSS💬 12:57, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

GSS, this film has actually gained much media attention due to its star cast (Shriya Saran, Nithya Menen and Ravi Prakash are three examples, Charuhasan is a National Award winning actor even if not a star as much as his younger brother), and the fact that it is a multilingual. Someone has just not added much material to this article. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:12, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kailash29792: but having notable star cast does not give free pass to notability and we must follow the policies. Do you mind restoring the redirect? GSS💬 13:30, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
GSS, then by your definition many high-profile and well developed film articles listed at Category:Upcoming films should also not have articles. Cyphoidbomb and Ab207, your input is appreciated. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:34, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We should not care if Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. GSS💬 13:40, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If there are atleast two reliable sources that cover the film's production work, it should meet NFF. -- Ab207 (talk) 13:54, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Can someone please provide those sources that discuss the production independently and not the cast per WP:ROUTINE. GSS💬 14:45, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Am I correct in inferring that this film has been shelved for the time being? NFF says that we shouldn't create an article about a film unless principal photography has begun, but it doesn't say that a film that has begun shooting is always notable. While some unfinished films can be notable (often for bad reasons, like Midnight Rider), most are not likely to be notable because they will fail to attract the significant coverage that WP:GNG requires. So in this case, since the film IMO fails WP:NFILM and potentially the GNG, I tend to lean toward redirecting, with information about the film being folded into other relevant articles. Although I'm not sure which article would be most intuitive, since director Sujana Rao doesn't have one yet. COVID really threw a wrench into the works, because I bet there are at least a hundred Indian film articles out there about films that started rolling, but then got derailed. When we create articles about unreleased films, we're really rolling the dice against WP:CRYSTAL. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:33, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
