Removed Florida trivia[edit]

This was added after Florida's first championship in 2006

Since the 1968 championship, only the 2006 Florida Gators have won both of their Final Four games by at least 15 points. Incidentally, the second of those wins came against the UCLA Bruins.

This might belong in the 2006 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, 1968 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament or under Florida Gators. Group29 14:39, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lew (Kareem) and the goggles[edit]

This was removed from the article at one point, and perhaps belongs in a trivia section, also it has a bit of sour grapes feel to it. However it has appeared in books about UCLA basketball and is part of the story. If we could find the citation and book, it should be included.

Lou Alcindor had suffered a scratched left cornea on January 12, 1968 at the Cal game. He would miss the next two games against Stanford and Portland. This happened right before the momentous game against Houston. His cornea later would be scratched again during his pro career and he would then wear goggles for protection. Following the NCAA championship, this would be cited as one of the reasons the game was so close.

size of photo[edit]

Could we please follow the recommendation of WP:MOS#Images and not override the reader's preferences by coding a specific size into the image tag. Users wishing to see the picture in a larger (or smaller) size should make a preferences setting to specify the size they want. That lets them choose the size at which they see the picture themselves. Putting that choice directly into the article instead of into their own preferences prevents other users from making their own choices. It also fosters a attention-seeking competition towards bigger and bigger pictures in articles. If the user doesn't set a preference, the default of 180px is really enough to convey the sense of this picture, enough to let viewers decide whether to click on it to see a larger version. 75.62.7.22 02:33, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Elvin vs lew SI cover.jpg[edit]

Image:Elvin vs lew SI cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
