Update[edit]

Hi. I plan to make updates to the Gary Anderson page. He is a commentator on Setanta Sports who have a bio for him. KMcD (talk) 07:39, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article name[edit]

(F1 designer), don't really like this as it uses an abbreviation, and also isn't completely accurate as he has done more than just Formula One cars.

Sugestion for a name change - (motor racing designer) ? --Falcadore (talk) 00:01, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How about "Gary Anderson (motorsport)", as he has previously participated in motorsport both as a driver and mechanic in addition to being a designer. It wouldn't conflict with any of the other Gary Andersons listed at Gary Anderson (disambiguation). DH85868993 (talk) 02:24, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, works for me. I'll set it up as a move request. --Falcadore (talk) 20:52, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Any particular reason for using a move request rather than just moving it directly ourselves? DH85868993 (talk) 22:05, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
None really, except if there were objections from the folk at WP:F1, which is why I started this thread in the first instance. --Falcadore (talk) 22:42, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've flagged the discussion at WT:F1. DH85868993 (talk) 09:27, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds fine to me. Darth Newdar talk 12:59, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Me too. This is definitely a case for "be bold". Making a name more general is much less likely to be controversial than a move to make a page name more specific (e.g. Jordan F1 designer). Pyrope 13:36, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Go for it :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 01:02, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Moved to Gary Anderson (motorsport). DH85868993 (talk) 14:56, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

University[edit]

Did he attend (or attent) Queen's? As he apparently left NI for England when he was 19, and then was solidly in employment with one racing manufacturer or another until the early 2000s, I can't see where he would have fitted this in, and the one bio I have found for him doesn't mention it. Any refs back up this claim? Pyrope 13:44, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
