Name[edit]

As far as I can tell the name of the series is Gears of War (from the indicia) and "Hollow" is just the name of the first storyline so this would be better off at Gears of War (comics). However, it appears that Boom! Studios have the Gears of War license (as opposed to this which is based on the Gears of War 2 license, hence this being a prequel to the game not a sequel to the first one) and are planning a graphic novel due in April 2009 (ISBN 1934506303) so it may be we ultimately want Gears of War (Wildstorm) alongside Gears of War (Boom Studios) (following WP:NCC) but until the other Boom Studios article comes along Gears of War (comics) seems the best bet. Until the second story line comes (if it does come), I think it's safe to name the article Gears of War: Hollow. If anything there should be a redirect regardless of the name. - 20:03, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Naming conventions are that the name of the series should be the one from the indicia and as far as I can tell "Hollow" is merely a storyline. (Emperor (talk) 22:02, 17 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Do we know that there are going to be other storylines? I'm not sure if there's going to be another storyline after Hollow, but if there's a source that says otherwise, we can change the title to Gears of War (comics) or (graphic novels) or whatever is appropriate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikeym88 (talkcontribs) 23:49, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is an ongoing series and the rumours are the first issue sold this side of half a million copies (the highest selling comic this year, with twice as may sales as the big event titles) so it doesn't look like it will be cancelled due to poor sales. technically it wouldn't make any difference unless the actual tite of the comic was Gears of War: Hollow which it isn't. (Emperor (talk) 00:49, 18 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Any sources to confirm the sales? or even th rumour? How do you know that Gears of War: Hollow isn't the actual title? Is it because Hollow doesn't appear on the cover? - Mikey (talk) 02:05, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Both comic databases use the indicia for the titles and if you look at the solicitations on DC (and elsewhere that post them) they call it "Gears of War." In fact all the evidence suggests it is "Gears of War" and I see none to suggest it is "Gears of War: Hollow." If it would help resolve this I can ask Liam Sharp.
Sales discussed at Rich Johnston's Lying in the Gutters at Comic Book Resources here. We can't use LitG as a source (CBR is OK to use but gossip columns aren't) but there should be some news about it somewhere which we can use (I can't see sales like that not being commented on somewhere). So what do we do now? Rename it? - Mikey (talk) 00:29, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep I've sorted it out, as Hollow was only the first storyline. (Emperor (talk) 01:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Image[edit]

Shall I scan the cover of the first comic to upload it as a picture? or take one from the wildstorm website? what should the rights be when I do upload the picture? - Mikey (talk) 20:02, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You might as well take from the Wildstorm site [1] as you can source. Licensing can be done with a few templates - see e.g. Image:Phantomcomics2.jpg. (Emperor (talk) 22:09, 17 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Plot[edit]

I need references for the plot right? Mikey (talk) 20:13, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you can use primary sources like <ref>''Gears of War'' #1</ref> or if you want to use information from the interviews then they are already footnoted. Following WP:WAF keep the plot tight and if there is out-of-universe material then feel free to add it in. (Emperor (talk) 22:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Updated the picture.
Updated the comic section for Tai's and Harper' standalone comics.
