Doesn't he have a son?[edit]

The personal life section mentions a wife, cats, and an affinity for football, but doesn't he have at least one child? In an interview circa Born Again (w/ Tony and Ian, found on YouTube, from MTV)I believe he mentions a son Damien. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.120.121.51 (talk) 01:25, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bisexuality thing[edit]

Is the bisexuality thing true? I wasn't able to find it anywhere outside this article.

No, it is not true. As soon as I leave this message, I'm removing that.

Of course you would know right Joe? I mean because you volunteer to repeat the protestations to the contrary of someone that means for a fact that it is not true, right? Please let people know that you "run the black sabbath site" as a volunteer and that the site is an unofficial fan site. You have no more insight, perhaps less so, into Gezzer's sexuality. He is also a very long way from 6 foot tall Joe, an item easily verifiable. How about letting a little reality slip in from time to time, eh?

My name is Joe Siegler, and I run the Black Sabbath site at black-sabbath.com as well as Geezer Butler's website at geezerbutler.com. I pointed out this page to them, and they said it was untrue, that they'd never heard of this person.

On a recent episode of VH1's "Hangin' With" series, where Geezer appeared with Tony Iommi, he emphasized "we're all straight" in a fit of laughter. I think this may have had something to do with this Wiki error being brought to his attention by Joe.--MarshallStack 05:35, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I sure as hell hope not...that'd be atrocious. There's a particularly dangerous breed of WP vandal that gets a kick out of going around adding deliberately libelous claims to WP:BIO articles. It's dangerous because it's often not blatant enough to get caught early (ie- doesn't consist of blanking the article and leaving "DAVE IS TEH GAY!1!!" in it's place), and not patently ridiculous enough to make readers dismiss it as false right away. Eventually you end up with things like the Siegenthaler Sr. catastrophe, stuff that has a real capacity to harm the Project.
Don't ever hesitate to immediately revert any edit on a WP:BIO that's uncited and smells even remotely like BS. If they can't be bothered to find a citation for a potentially explosive claim, they're probably a troll and should be treated accordingly. Last Sentence[edit]

The last sentence makes very little sense; for how many of the past years has he been vegan? Can someone who knows about Butler's eating habits correct this? MrPMonday 00:11, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added "few" so the sentence at least makes sense until someone finds an actual number. The following sentence about removing two strings from the bass he couldn't afford doesn't make any sense either; I assume they're talking about a normal guitar rather than a bass, but in that case, how come he could afford one of them? Son[edit]

Shouldn't this article say something about his son Biff. He was in a recognized, signed band. I think that's rather significant.

Information about his lack of a bass/tuning[edit]

Firstly... it is not possible to just take two strings off of a guitar and tune it down to the tuning of a bass. I don't know where somebody got that information from, but they probably misunderstood something. I write this as both a bassist and a guitarist. That would require tuning the guitar down a full octave, and that's simply not possible. If you tune down from E to B, the strings get really floppy... there's no way you could tune it down a full octave. Maybe he put bass strings on a guitar? That might be doable... it's kind of doubtful... but anyway I don't want to put it without knowing. I'm removing that tidbit until someone can give us some kind of confirmation.

Secondly... why would he tune "down" to C# F# E B? The C# and the F# are tuned down, yes, but if he tunes down a step and a half like Iommi does, he should be tuning C# F# B E. Actually, as I was typing this, I just realized that someone just mixed up the E and the B. I'm fixing it.4.131.49.20 02:37, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed William Murderface Reference[edit]

I took out the line describing Geezer as the inspiration for the Metalocalypse character. It's uncited fanwankery. Nobody from the show has said a single word about whom the characters are supposed to be based on, if anybody at all. So until then, no dice. "...explore recurring themes of death and destruction"[edit]

Whoever wrote that has never actually heard Geezer's lyrics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.101.244.143 (talk) 14:51, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Exactly, which is why I fixed it. The former line is typical uneducated fan nonsense, just like the perpetuation that he was into the occult, when it was little more than a passing curiosity. How many times does Geezer have to reiterate that the song Black Sabbath was a warning against occultism until people get it. Morons.96.250.6.37 (talk) 08:04, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seventh son[edit]

Our article seventh son of a seventh son states that he is one of these, so how about adding it in smone. oh, and I highly doubt he is bi.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.115.175.247 (talk) 16:34, 26 March 2008

Of the two, being bi would be far more likely.
"Seventh son of a seventh son" is deleted for being persistently unsourced in this article. It was {{Fact}} tagged with considerable suspicion in the Seventh son article back in November 2007, where it has since remained unsourced. The coincidence that any member of Black Sabbath would have such a statistically improbable trait, one that in legend confers mystical powers, but is just obscure enough to be hard to check out, is too much the stuff of urban legend and fan lore to be included in Wikipedia without verification. Despite this, the factoid is being repeatedly added, [1] [2] [3]. Interestingly, no one is fighting to restore the similarly-unsourced line about Butler's macrobiotic diet. / edg 21:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

extra instruments[edit]

since it clearly says in the article that he played guitar in the early days i am adding it into the instruments. and it clearly says in the member section that he plays synths. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.88.44 (talk) 20:41, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I disagree with including those in the infobox. He is a bass player, I don't find it appropriate to list every instrument that an artist ever played. J04n(talk page) 02:07, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Religious views[edit]

Shouldn't this be mentioned here? As I recall some offical site or book mentions that he's a devout Roman Catholic, is that true? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.155.84.78 (talk) 22:28, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Equipment[edit]

The article starts off saying; "For amplification Butler plays Ampeg SVT-2PRO heads and SVT-810E 8x10 cabinets"

Then in the same section it says; "As of 2012 he is endorsed by Hartke bass amplification."

So shouldn't it say he formerly used Ampeg amps? What is his current Hartke setup? The Hartke site says he's using the "new Kilo Bass Amplifiers" DavidRavenMoon (talk) 00:26, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnam War?[edit]

the Early Life section mentions the Vietnam War ( in the Vietnam War era, Butler feared that he would be next. ) This makes no sense, as the UK did not invade Vietnam. Devgirl (talk) 19:17, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, the UK did not invade Vietnam, but during that time period there were fears in many parts of the world that the Vietnam conflict would escalate and other nations would become involved. The cited source quotes Butler: "When the Vietnam War came along, we thought conscription would be back in England and we'd be called up to fight in the Vietnam War." So it does indeed make sense.
