Need a little clarification regarding "coming within a single victory"?[edit]

The article refers to Mauch never winning a league pennant as a manager, "three times coming within a single victory". In 1964, unless you consider reversing the outcome of a St. Louis victory over Philadelphia, changing one loss to a victory would only have produced a tie for the pennant. (St. Louis finished 1 game ahead of both Philadelphia and Cincinnati.) I am leaving the remark as is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.82 (talk) 16:54, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Really good article. Comment[edit]

Just wanted to say that if people want to see how to write an article, they should look at this. Gene Mauch had a long and storied career as MLB's resident "genius". I was able to come on this page and find out a few salient facts about Mauch w/out being overwhelmed with a bunch of minutiae from someone who is writing their college freshman comp paper on _Everything in the World about Gene Mauch_. Good article.User:JCHeverly 22:43, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
