The independence declaration was turned down by the central Spanish government, and members of the Catalan government, including Carles Puigdemont, fled to Belgium and claim they are the legitimate Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia. Done with some minor editing for proper grammar and capitalization. The proposed wording agrees more with the sources given as the El Pais source only states that Puigdemont is considering applying for asylum. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:35, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Information[edit]

"The independence declaration was turned down by the central Spanish government and Carles Puigdemont ran to Belgium seeking for political asylum." Is wrong as he isn't seeking political asylum, can someone change this? Catalonia Forever (talk) 14:53, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See the section above. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:35, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

uh, but autonomy is suspended right now. right??[edit]

can there be a caveat in here somewhere that mentions that the Generalitat does not fully have a lot of the powers described here because a new president hasn't been elected & Parlament is basically on hold right now?

I'm hoping this article can reflect the fact that article 155 has been invoked & remains in place today. I'm going to take a stab at another edit. Just a heads up. Let me know if I'm missing anything. Dog-Patch Zero-Six (talk) 20:16, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
