Untitled[edit]

I've heard rumours (nothing confirmed so far) that Mac Geniuses are not allowed to post in online forums. Unfortunately, as the only source of these rumours ARE forums there's been nobody co confirm it. Any information? It may make a good addition to this currently overwhelmingly positive article. --99.250.177.248 (talk) 06:06, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is pretty poor stuff. It reads like it comes straight out of Apple marketing.

It appears that it's just another support desk with a cute name. Here's an interesting link. http://ungeni.us/section/retail/genius_bar_the_apple_stores_fading_legacy Nssdfdsfds 01:51, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"The place to go for advice, insight, and hands-on technical support. Wondering how to use a new program, import your music into iTunes, or go wireless? What if your Mac or iPod needs to be repaired? Look no further than the Apple Store Genius Bar, where you can talk face-to-face with a highly trained Mac Genius. Our Geniuses will answer all your technical questions, troubleshoot problems, and explain it all in language that’s easy to understand." That is marketing from Apple. This article is a factual presentation of what the Genius Bar is. Removing the advert tag. – Fʀɪɺøʟɛ ( тɐʟк¢ʘи†ʀ¡βs ) 22:30, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any information about where the name "Genius Bar" comes from? I'm pretty sure it was a phrase before this service.

Yes, which came first: the Genius Sidebar or the Genius Bar? - Dudesleeper / Talk 00:04, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Atomic Model[edit]

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I thought amusing enough to note: The words "Genius Bar" are superimposed above a classic model of an atom. Pretty much any 'genius' or even halfway decent physics student would be aware that such a model of the atom is akin to the flat model of the Earth. Jacotto (talk) 03:08, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be fair it is more akin to Newton's law of gravity, we have a better model now but the old version is still useful, I do think it is funny they call it a genius bar though. 81.136.198.171 (talk) 14:24, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

not really relevant, besides it is a symbol, not meant to be used as a model 67.176.160.47 (talk) 21:33, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I'm not sure how this reads like an ad, as per Frijole above. Removing the tag - please leave us a note if you change it back. TheGreatTK (talk) 23:06, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Family Room[edit]

Could someone create a section explaining what this is? Sarnobat (talk) 19:56, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

criticism[edit]

I know that the Big Bang Theory has ridiculed apple geniuses, and other experiences tell me that some are less then competent at their job. I know there are some that might say that they aren't suppose to be geniuses, just experts at Apple products. anyway, http://news.cnet.com/2100-1040-257742.html makes an interesting point about the need for geniuses. anyway, I am trying to look for information on them from a good source, so if anyone has a suggestion on where to look? 67.176.160.47 (talk) 21:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pupular media[edit]

I propose to make a section in the article about their apperances in pupular media. I know that "South Park" showed the geniuses in the first episode of the 15'th season "HumancentiPad" , and that "Big Bang Theory" made some comments about them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by E1211 (talkcontribs) 00:56, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The model for the geniuses was inspired by the customer service of the Ritz Carlton hotel chain.

Proposing merger of Genius Training Student Workbook into this article[edit]

As a couple people have pointed out on Talk:Genius Training Student Workbook, that article is not very balanced, based on one leak in 2012 that got a lot of media coverage, and something should be done to improve the article. Since it generally doesn't make sense for this training manual to have its own article instead of being a small part of a general article about Apple's Genius Bar system, I'm proposing that editors should take whatever is useful from that article and merge it into this one.
