You are using their own website and MySpace pages as the main sources, neither of which are considered reliable sources. If they have not released an album, charted on a recognized chart, or actually received a notable award (not just a nomination), then they do not pass notability standards for bands and the article should be deleted. Notability. Articles that seem to have obviously non-notable subjects are not eligible for speedy deletion unless the article does not assert the importance or significance of its subject. In other words[edit]

I guess my point is that where before in history have you seen a band and not known how many musicians were in it, or even what instruments they play, let alone their names or faces? They are only represented by a fictional character. I don't understand how that could not be notable. Genki Rockets is not a band, it is a musical/visual project (similar to the Gorillaz). GR's "live" shows are similar to a DJ performance: the tracks are pre-recorded/mixed and are accompanied by visuals of Lumi performing on large projection screens. The DJ spinning the tracks is usually visible at the shows, but wears a costume to conceal his/her identity. It is most probable that not only do Mizuguchi and Tamai write the songs (for which they are credited), but also record the songs as well. As they are dance/electronica tracks, it's very likely that the songs are created using synthesizers and computer software, with Rhodes and Miyahara providing the vocals. There is no band, and the article really needs to be re-structured to reflect the fact. Live Earth Performance[edit]

This band played the Live Earth concert in Japan. See the official link [1]. This source describes Genki Rockets as

"..the brainchild of Tetsuya Mizuguchi, who heads up Q-Entertainment; the company created Genki Rockets exclusively for the video games Lumines II and Lumines Live, fashioning the vocals by sampling and then mixing together several female singers."

This fulfills Wikipedia's Criteria for musicians and ensembles (10) - "Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a compilation album, etc."

YouTube Live Tokyo Performance[edit]

This band played in YouTube Live on the Japanese YouTube site and had an 8 minute video. I have taken the liberty of putting the section in and linking to the actual video where they played the song, and added a short description on how it is different from other concerts. Infobox Pic[edit]

Can I take a screenshot of a Genki Rockets live performance from youtube and upload that as the infobox pic? --FlamingCobra (talk) 15:20, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is no band to take a picture of. The music is "performed" by a DJ spinning the tracks, and Lumi "singing" via large LED projection screens. I have attended two of GR's live shows, however, none of my photos would be particularly useable in this instance. A screencap from YT might be useful. ~Zargabaath 12:45, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lumi and the ISS[edit]

I'd like to know the source of the tidbit saying Lumi was born on the International Space Station. I've seen a few sources saying she was born in space, but nothing about the ISS.--68.204.141.149 (talk) 04:24, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm necroposting here, but it's mentioned in the instruction manual and in-game intro for the Playstation 3 game Child of Eden. The exact text:
September 11, 2019
The first human born in outer space takes her first breath on the International Space Station. Her name is Lumi.
Off-topic, it goes on to mention that she dies sometime before the second half of the 21st century (probably from cosmic radiation from living in space). Her memories are digitized, and during the 23rd century she is resurrected as a virtual entity in cyberspace. Her revived self appears to be the same age as she does in the music videos, so it could be concluded she died (will die?) within a few years of 2037.
