First flight[edit]

"Built with money borrowed from his maternal grandfather, de Havilland's first aircraft took two years to build before he crashed it during its first very short flight near Litchfield, Hampshire in 1909. A memorial marks the event."

The memorial (see photo) clearly says, "10 September 1910". Nunquam Dormio (talk) 19:24, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are discussing two separate events. British historian Oliver Tapper explains it in his book Roots In The Sky. I will edit the article to include his info.--Spray787 (talk) 15:52, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

More about the aircraft, please[edit]

Large numbers of de Havilland-designed aircraft were used during the First World War...

But no details of any of them. There is a serious absence of coverage of the planes he designed for both world wars. Valetude (talk) 12:09, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
