Editing[edit]

I'd like to assure that all would be welcomed and encouraged in fostering this article's enhancement by way of the addition of content which has been cited by referenced sources. In so doing to ensure against the removal of these referenced edits, i would also strongly compel editors, both present and prospective, to totally endeavour in their efforts made towards preserving the sourced and cited state of the article as of now. As this is so, such would aim to deterring and as well preventing such adverse acts from occuring so as to allow for the total amelioration and benefit of the page itself as a whole. Multiple issues here. First of all, the bottom of the infobox clearly states Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only. so why are you adding all matches? Secondly you add a lot of information that is not in the sources and put sources behand statements that do not exist in the source. For example in the lead, you say he was at the helm of Arsenal reserves for 10 years, but the source never mentions the amount of years. Further down you mention Billy Wright, Jon Sammels, Peter Storey and Bertie Mee, and link to his Arsenal profile but all names are not there in that source and it goes on all the way. You can not put sources behind things that are not in the source cited. Qed237 (talk) 10:34, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've now fully sourced the existing content. Qed237 is correct that if we add a source that contains only some of the content it's placed after, we should make clear with {{citation needed}} tags which bits are and are not sourced. Placing a source after unverified content misleads both reader and editor and goes against the whole concept of the encyclopedia. I've tried to explain this to Silverfish4 at their talk page but they didn't seem to grasp it. I also suggested they visited the WP:Teahouse in the hope that someone there could explain the problem better than I could.
Also, a reminder that content in the lead section should always be sourced in the body of the article, and if it is, it doesn't have to be specifically sourced in the lead: see WP:CITELEAD. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:51, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
