Tautology[edit]

American tobacco planter, slaveholder...

Any tobacco planter in Tennessee at that time would have been a slaveholder. I detect that this word is being slotted into certain wiki pages like a political rubber-stamp, and clearly meant as a smear. In any case, I don't think it belongs in the lede in this article.
