I have removed Mosely being principal of Christ's Missionary and Industrial College as he died before 1880 and the college was founded in 1897.

Also different spellings should be noted. The article is at George G. Mosely, MSU Library has George G. Moseley and Eric Foner has George G. Mosley. TSventon (talk) 12:17, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

FloridaArmy, PigeonChickenFish should the article mention that Mosely was African-American? The article is included in African-American categories and generally categorization should be based on sourced information in the article. Also should the article say he was a Republican, see File:Members_of_the_Legislature,_State_of_Mississippi,_1874-'75_-_photographed_by_E._Von_Seutter,_Jackson,_Miss._LCCN2006687066.jpg? @TSventon: I agree, it would be great if this article had more sources and more expansion. I don’t think any of the existing sources stated "African American," if we cannot expand this we could remove those categories until we can further develop (to avoid issues of original research). @PigeonChickenFish:, the publisher calls Foner's book "the first comprehensive directory of the over 1,500 African Americans who held political office in the South during the Reconstruction era", so probably all the entries in the book are African American. The 1993 edition has "Mosley , George G. ( dates unknown ) Mississippi . Mulatto ." on page 155. I checked the first ten people listed at African-American officeholders during and following the Reconstruction era#Mississippi House of Representatives and only one uses the term "African American", though others mention "slave" or "colored".
