Autobiography[edit]

Interesting subject. However, writing an autobiography on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged, unless your writing has been approved by other editors in the community. For further information, please see Wikipedia:Autobiography. As the subject may still be notable enough, I'd suggest that the article be partly rewritten. -- Camptown 23:11, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

THIS IS NOT AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY. ONLY A FEW ADDITIONS WERE INSERTED FOR CLARITY AFTER IT WAS POSTED ON WIKIPEDIA BY THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WROTE THE BIO. PLEASE CORRECT YOUR STATEMENT. THANKS.Domingue 14:02, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Domingue 09:46, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am honored someone wrote an article about me (and with verifiable references). Since I do not know all the "ins and outs" of dealing with Wikipedia, I suspect that I probably should not have inserted any clarifying words/statements in the bio. If any of the following is objectionable, please advise if it should be removed. There were no changes made to the article as written by the individual who posted the bio, only minor inserts:

Paragraph 1 ... (bacteriology, immunology, experimental urology); (school of medicine);(school of dentistry);(Snodgrass Laboratory of Pathology and Bacteriology).

Paragraph 2 ... served on grant review committees of these agencies as well as consultant to various journal review boards. He also served as clinical microbiology and research consultant to hospital clinical laboratories and to industry.

Paragraph under Education and Early Work: ...(graduate courses in bacteriology, atomic physics and advanced qualitative organic chemistry; served as instructor of laboratory courses in bacteriology and immunology in university) ... ...holds the Ph.D. degree in medical microbiology and immunology.

Last sentence prior to references: Domingue is the father of three daughters, Andrea, Yvonne, Michelle; two sons, Gerald, Jr., Marcel Gerald; he has one granddaughter, four grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Domingue 14:02, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate Camptown's comments about NPOV and the idea that Wikipedia is not a place for autobiography. However, as the person who put up this bio, I can assure you that this was not written by Dr. Domingue. The fact that it's a fairly comprehensive picture shouldn't detract from this article's credibility. Now, if you have issues with tone, please be specific! I happen to think that right now it's pretty close to meeting Wikipedia's standards for what makes a good bio. Palbert 14:33, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Gerald and Palbert, I removed the autobio tag, but I still think that the article looks somewhat biased is style and should be slightly rewritten. Consider editing - just to mention ONE example - the following unsourced statement: Domingue was born and raised in rural, Acadian Louisiana, where, it has been suggested, his natural surroundings stimulated his creativity and played a role in his development as a painter. And is it, e.g. necessary to point out that Dominigue is an accomplished poet? And is it really notable that Domingue is the father of three daughters, Andrea, Yvonne, Michelle; two sons, Gerald, Jr. and Marcel Gerard; he has one granddaughter, four grandsons and one great-granddaughter.? Basically, however, I think Palbert has done a great job, and the article can only get better. --Camptown 22:09, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback, Camptown. I don't disagree with your recommendations. Over the next few days, I'll try to make edits consistent with your recommendations. Palbert 15:18, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just added references to the unreferenced section, so I deleted the unreferenced tag. Make sense? Good. Palbert (talk) 03:16, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
