History of the name Geraldine[edit]

The article currently says: ".... this was later changed to Geraldine though the exact reasoning for this is unknown." However, the reference [1] includes: "Geraldine was named in 1857 after a place in County Limerick associated for centuries with the FitzGerald family as a compliment to J. E. FitzGerald, first Superintendent of Canterbury Province." Is there reason to doubt this ? Marshelec (talk) 07:01, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
