Yes, I've seen them playing their away games in head to toe lime green or pear green...definitely a yellowish green.

Goalkeeper link[edit]

Hey! Maybe it's just me, but the current New Foundings In Segunda section of the article doesn't seem quite right. It's implying that upon gaining promotion to Segunda in 1976 the old Club Getafe Deportivo evolved into Peña Madridista Getafe which played four seasons in Segunda and then furthermore changed it's name to Club Deportivo Peña Getafe under which it played another two seasons in Segunda before relegation and subsequent disappearance.

But, the way I understood it, after reading the history at the official website (see headings En Tercera en Las Margaritas and El actual Getafe Club de Fútbol), is that the old Club Getafe Deportivo played in Segunda for six seasons starting from 1976, before relegation and disappearance. In the meanwhile, a separate entity called Peña Madridista Getafe (as one can imagine from the name, it was originally a Real Madrid supporters' association, i.e. a peña) was created in 1976 and later changed it's name to Club Deportivo Peña Getafe in 1980. It is mentioned that between 1976 and 1982 this new club played a total of six seasons in "different categories" before merging with another club called Club Getafe Promesas in 1982. Then, when the old Club Getafe Deportivo finally disappeared in 1983, the current Getafe Club de Fútbol was created on the foundations of that merger. This is the way I see it.

For further proof, here are two RSSSF documents that mention C. Getafe Dep. existing until 1983:

And here's one that mentions CD Getafe (listed with this name, but it must be the same one) being relegated from Segunda straight to Tercera because of debts in 1982:

There's also a lot of records of the club (listed as either CD Getafe or Getafe CD) taking part in the Spanish Cup between 1976 and 1983:

Done some more research and you are correct, Club Getafe Deportivo existed in Segunda for 6 seasons from 76-82, before folding. Peña Madridista Getafe, and later Club Deportivo Peña Getafe, wasa a seperate entity. Content changed accordingly. Hugh777 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 10:02, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Racial sexism incidents?[edit]

I have removed this paragraph:

"Getafe fans in the past have been involved in some unfortunate racial incidents, most notably against Samuel Eto'o. Repeatedly fined by the LFP, the club famously threatened to black out their players faces for the next match in an effort to squash the racism."

The troubles with Samuel Eto'o were in one match. Only one match. The fans offended to Eto'o when he pushed to a ballboy. The Getafe's stadium is one of the most quit of Spain. The opposite fans can visit our stadium without problems. Because, Getafe don't have ultras (violent supporters).

Interesting they are happy to have extreme sexist Mason Greenwood playing for them despite the published recording of his despicable actions. Jorma soon to wash hands of cloud to avoid being boycotted by women.

Name Change Rumours[edit]

While it's been suggested that the term 'Getafe Team Dubai' COULD become their official name, it appears much more likely that it will be a marketing slogan.

Regardless, it hasn't happened yet, so the decision to switch the page to 'Getafe Team Dubai' appears to be rather foolish. It's not allowing me to simply 'undo' the change, so it will have to be done by somebody with rather more time than me. Any such major changes should really be properly researched and consulted on before the switch is made... Marty jar (talk) 21:21, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
