Hello from Hackbarth, the creator of the Gibson Spirit page here on Wikipedia. Thanks for the recent contributions to the page. I'm curious if anyone can verify that early Spirits had maple necks, as my 82 Epi definitely has a mahogany neck.

Hello Hackbarth, I just had the luck of buying a '83 sunburst Nashville Gibson Spirit. My guitar guy is pretty sure it has an alder body and maple neck (both 3-piece). if you're interested, i can post some pics after I'm done making it shine again.
