DYK nomination[edit]

more work needed[edit]

Due to Covid library closures and ongoing cyber retaliation, I haven't worked much on wikipedia articles in the past few months. My changes per the Leonard volume were not saved during my limited access at the special collections library today and I'm not sure when I'll get back there, tho I did take photos of the relevant Leonard volume pages with a camera not with me at this moment. In early June, an editor probably part of the retaliation group reverted my changes to an article about a North Carolina family whose members served on both sides in the American Civil War. This article might have the same issue. It's quite possible that although Meem's father owned slaves, Meem himself did not. However, a quick ancestry.com search found neither 1850 nor 1860 census records for him, and in my half hour of access to the geneology books, I didn't consult any about Shenandoah County, where he lived much of his life and which was the locus of his political career. Frankly, the Civil War compendia currently cited have other issues. IMHO this article is not ready for DYK status. It doesn't even link to the early 20th century architect, John Gaw Meem IV, who does have an article.Jweaver28 (talk) 00:35, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
