Lots of redundant info[edit]

I'm going through this article and deleting all the info that is irrelevant. See Delta Goodrem discography and Christina Aguilera discography for examples of good discography pages. *H¡ρρ¡ ¡ρρ¡ 13:23, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Sugababes discography looks exactly the same as this page. I decided to clean that page up as well, but added reasons on the talk page as to why I deleted particular sections, and these reasons also apply to this article too. This is what I wrote:
If you have any problems, start a discussion here or go to my talk page. I will accept messages from fans who wish to verbally bash me up. But take note - I have followed one of WP's policies - Be Bold. Cheers *H¡ρρ¡ ¡ρρ¡ 13:51, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I recon you have done a great job with cleaning the article up, I agree that some of that information in the discography were not needed that much. Lillygirl 23:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well I think you've done an awful job. The planned singles are there for informational use, "Wicked Game" was announced on the official website and in newspapers and everything. The unreleased tracks are still relevant because they could appear on a rarities disc or become future b-sides. Fans may want to know what songs they are missing out on. And as for the live songs, that's also relevant because live songs do get released sometimes, like Girls Aloud's covers of "I Predict A Riot" and "Teenage Dirtbag" among their own hits. XL XR2 05:18, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article changes[edit]

I have reformatted most of the article. I have also cited all sales, certification and chart data using reliable websites. Any information that has come from fan sites has been removed because it is unknown if the sales totals, etc. are accurate or reliable. Sound samples have also been removed because I feel that they cannot be covered under fair use. -- Underneath-it-All 01:55, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music video directors?[edit]

Does anyone know who directed the music videos for "Walk This Way" and "No Good Advice"? -- Underneath-it-All 16:46, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trudy Bellinger directed the video for "Walk This Way", it says so on the Merge Films website. There is a link on her Wikipedia page.XL XR2 03:38, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changes[edit]

I'm going to remove the denotes sign because some songs were not even released in some countries andthat is why they didn't chart. I'm going to add some songs to the unreleased and mscellaneous sections, some have cites but some need to be done. Please keep these changes Charmer 14:49, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fake chart peaks[edit]

I hardly doubt Girls Aloud had a #1 single and album in Greece. Some needs to add some citations 218.101.80.21 10:14, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UK sales figures[edit]

I've updated their UK sales figures to match those in the source. If the figures that were there before are correct, a new source must be found. Also, the source for the Sound of Girls Aloud says it only sold 84,000 copies - either this is a typo or the article is out of date. A new source needs to be found for that. I did come across a copy of an article from the Observer Music Monthly on LiveJournal, but not sure how reliable that is. If someone can find an official source and quote it, then that is that problem solved. ~~ [Jam][talk] 12:58, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They've sold about 5 Million UK Singles - only enough to be about 44th in the All Time Chart.

Spice Girls only released 11 Singles, but they are in 14th place - 7,756,500 UK Singles sold. Girls Aloud are more about Chart Statistics than Sales.....they are not one of the All Time Greats - their many Top 10 Hits create an illusion. (Just like Westlife! 14 UK No.1's, & only the 31st All Time UK Singles Act)

Black Jacks[edit]

Someone added Black Jacks to the list of single releases. Can anyone add citations for that, as I have not found anything and nothing is on the main Girls Aloud article as well. If not, I will delete the information.LPMA (talk) 15:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neither Black Jacks or Control of the Knife have been confirmed as singles. Feel free to delete them. ~~ [Jam][talk] 18:34, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

B-sides[edit]

I never commented on anything in wikipedia, but as someone who came back to the Girls Aloud discography page two days after seeing it and realised the entire B sides section was removed, I have a hard time figuring out what was the point of removing it. If the singles are mentioned why were the B-sides removed? they are as viable information as the singles themselves —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.178.115.99 (talk) 01:45, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

B-sides are mentioned on the relevant single articles. I don't know about the previous B-side list, but I suspect the B-sides aren't as notable as the A-sides, hence why that list was removed. ~~ [ジャム][t - c] 10:10, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That is correct. All the B-sides are mentioned on the singles' articles. The Wikiproject for discographies, WP:DISCOG has made it clear that B-sides should not be listed in a discography, for they deal with releases. Discography, not songography. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 02:40, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Album Sales[edit]

I added how many sales albums made, I was able to sales due to certifications of albums so add + sign to say it has sold more. Anyone want rid of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.145.131.47 (talk) 17:48, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Untouchable[edit]

This has charted at #54 in the UK singles chart. [1]

If it isn't eligable to be put under the "Singles" section because it hasn't been released, then surely it IS eligable for the "Other charted songs section"? It was there, but was removed? 12bigbrother12 12:41, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Is should be put under the singles section because it will be released --Andybigbro2 (talk) 18:29, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It hadn't charted at the time of various editors edit warring to get the single in. Could an admin please add in Untouchable as a single, and its current UK chart position of 54? ~~ [ジャム][t - c] 21:40, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Note to any admin: I am recusing myself of editing this page during the admin-only protection as I am a major contributor to its content.
Regarding the edit request, "Untouchable (Girls Aloud song)" hasn't been released as a single. The release date is 27 April. Any charting position before that date is due to download sales as an album track. aCharts isn't a WP:Reliable source either, so before it's put in the admin would need a RS to verify the position. Placing it in the singles table would be incorrect, but as Andybigbro2 said, putting it in "Other charted songs" would be okay, provided a RS is provided. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 04:32, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
By the looks of this, it probably charted last week at 146, and then moved up to 54 this week. However, I agree that as it hasn't been released, it's probably best to leave it off until it does. ~~ [ジャム][t - c] 09:28, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Song has now reached #41 [2]12bigbrother12 16:01, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
It is still not a Single. Matthewedwards :  Chat  18:55, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say it was a single yet, I was merely pointing out that it had risen in the charts, providing a source for when it is added to the article 12bigbrother12 22:19, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
I think by the time it is added to the article, it'll be in a completely different position in the charts so there is no real need to track its progress here. (If anything, it goes against WP:NOT#STATS) ~~ [ジャム][t - c] 22:29, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What you think will happen is not relevant here (WP:CRYSTAL]). I was merely pointing out the current chart position, since technically it should be in the "Other Charted Songs" section now. 12bigbrother12 17:53, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Can you at least add "Untouchable" as an other charting song, because it has so far peaked at No.41 according to The Official Charts website. Theog101 (talk) 08:51, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lockdown[edit]

Why is this article not editable by the public? Pacers (talk) 20:57, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Too many users kept adding Untouchable as a single when it had not been released (along with other unsourced information). ~~ [ジャム][t - c] 22:01, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Release[edit]

Will be released as a SINGLE on April 27th. So, please, put "Untouchable" as a single. It has already peaked at #41 on the UK Singles Chart, based purely on downloads from the album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.37.127.170 (talk) 18:48, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Downloads from the album are not downloads of the single. That means that it hasn't officially charted as a single. Therefore, it will stay off until it is officially released. ~~ [ジャム][t - c] 18:52, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The video has been released, so you can add that 128.12.32.199 (talk) 03:37, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You, Matthewedwards :  Chat  06:04, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If there's a source for the single now, can't we just unprotect it?
I'm not quite sure how reliable that source is though. --Amalthea 11:49, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Whic source? The Machine Shop source is a primary source - they produced it. NOW magazine is tabloidy, but at least it's a printed source. UK Screen Association I'm not entirely sure about, so maybe it could be left off, but with three sources is it really harming anything?
As for unprotecting, I'd rather leave it be. The song hasn't been released as a single yet, and before it was protected it was being added as far back as January. Yes, it's charted in the Top 75 of the UK Singles Chart, but that's from downloads of an album cut, not downloads of a single. It hasn't been released, so there's no place for it here, and the only way to ensure that is protecting it until the release date. Matthewedwards :  Chat  16:12, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, I only noticed the first source, my widescreen screen is not wide enough it seems.
Of course, ukscreenassociation.co.uk is the only one of the three that is actually calling "Untouchable" a single, the others only talk about the video, right? --Amalthea 16:37, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the song to the music videos section. Cheers, Amalthea 16:41, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If Untouchable can't be added to the "singles" section until the actual release date can it be added to the "other charted songs" section as it is now within the top 40? thanks. Mister sparky (talk) 21:12, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

10 countries per WP:DISCOG[edit]

The singles table has too many columns. This will have to be cut down significantly. Will do it myself in the next day or two if no one responds here with preferences for which countries to remove. - eo (talk) 19:56, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FRA, GER, SWI removed as they had the least number of chart entries and the lowest positions. - eo (talk) 12:10, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Director for the new single[edit]

I'm unable to edit it, since I have no account, but the director of the music video of Beautiful Cause You Love me was Paul Caslin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.7.221.136 (talk) 04:42, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
