Misc[edit]

Notability[edit]

This school cannot be nominated for speedy deletion. Schools are inherently notable. Plus, notable alumne and home page prove it's existence. Undeath (talk) 06:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First off, there is a primary source which is the home page. Second. There is no rule, for schools, that states that a third party source is needed. Think about it this way, how many high schools are published in third party sources. I know there are a lot of them, but there are schools that are not. That is why third party sources do not apply to school articles. The main page is sufficient to prove the existence. Reliability can be proven with a google search for the school or just by looking over the web page. If you have more questions/comments/concerns, just ask. I'm going to sleep now though. Sure there is; it's the same one that applies to every other article on Wikipedia, WP:RS. Your "Think about it this way" logic doesn't make any sense because you could substitute the word "business" or "church" or "band" and the same would be true. The "policy" does not cover any bit of schools in WP:N. WP:SCL is what is always quoted on AfD school debates and that is why the AfD is always a Keep. I understand that there are some made up schools, but with schools that are proven to exist, they are notable without discussion. If they were not notable, there would only be a few schools listed on wikipedia because only a select few have published third party sources. Undeath (talk) 13:46, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(extend) Why not simply use the available material and work on the article? This school has more than 300 hits on Nexis - surely there is material here to work with, to establish notability without invoking the (silly) proposed guideline. I was trying to understand the claim that the primary sources tag cannot be used on school articles but haven't yet gotten a satisfactory answer. Instead there's been reference to a proposed notability guideline, some vague mention of AfD debates, and no response to the questions about Verifiability, as though WP:N somehow renders WP:V null and void. Sorry for the late response. I just got done with a wrestling tournament. First off, I'm not "interested" in this article. I am only disagreeing with the WP:N vs WP:SCL. Technically, 90% of schools could be tagged with the non notable tag, as could most cities and places. If you do not change your tone, you will not recieve an answer from me either. The primary sources tag deals with OR. The article has no quoted information from the primary source nor does it contain any statistics from the primary source. The band stuff[edit]

Someone really needs to take most of that crap about the band out of this article. I went to this school back in the day, so I know there are many more things to this school other than the band. I also know that over 3/4 of those "accomplishments" listed are not notable competitions, just local stuff. If the list isn't cleaned up soon, I'll clean it up. In other words, I'll delete every thing on that list that is not connected with a notable competition. (Notability standards people, it's not hard...) Now, I just copied and pasted this back over into the talk page. Here is what needs to be done, and I'll even do this once I get the time: Take this information and make a table out of it. You can see the sports table right? Well, this needs to look the same way. In other words, stop listing competitions over and over again, especially when they are the same competitions every year. Just put the name of the competition in one slot, the number of times won in another, and the years won in another slot. That makes it look a lot neater. Now, I know a lot of the band people at Goddard will try and put this back in the article, please be forewarned that this will be considered vandalism. I used to go to school there years ago, so I remember how the band is. (Trust me, I played in it) If you have questions about this, feel free to contact me on my talk page.
