I live in Hyderabad and I have never seen it spelled 'Golconda'. I believe we must merge this article and just keep 'Golkonda' to avoid confusion. Probably, we can provide a link in the 'Golconda' section to point to the 'Golkonda' article.
I agree, Golkonda feels like a better transliteration, and, according to state government website, is the official name. I'm going to go ahead and merge the articles.
