Golden Vale called after cheese brand[edit]

This proposition is ridiculous. There are numerous examples of its use in the 19th c. Even Arthur Young in his noted Travelogue of 1780 specifically mentions it. If said gentleman said the moon was made of cheese, would refs be required to refute such a notion? Exasperated! RashersTierney (talk) 19:19, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your input. I've heard the idea that 'golden vein' is "more correct" several times; so it's worth responding to this rather than ignoring it. Clearly, Bernard Share was utterly wrong in this instance; but he's not a crank. jnestorius(talk) 21:05, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
'Golden Vein' is fine as 'another' if less common name. May sound belated but that edit on my part that got rid of 'Golden Vein' was not intentional. Got a little lost in the code. Apologies for that, but the eccentric issue of the 'processed cheese origins' remains unresolved. I have no reason to think Share is a crank, just that he's wrong! Best. Where is it?[edit]

The article certainly doesn't make that clear. By the towns listed it stretches SSW to NNE from Charleville to Tipperary Town; the "abutment" would be to the south between the Ballyhouras and Galty Mountains. That would may it twice as long as "14 miles". And where does it go near the Blackwater? Sarah777 (talk) 15:42, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Golden Vale, Map needed. a GOOD colour coded map[edit]

Golden Vale, Map needed. a GOOD colour coded map — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.186.142.242 (talk) 10:40, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can create a map however, trying to assign it an approximate area is difficult as the sources quoted are quite contradictory. They stated that it's 23km long and 10km and it includes the towns of Charleville, Mitchelstown, Kilmallock and Tipperary. These are mutually exclusive. Would love to help create this map if we can get a proper geographical boundary. Mooveck (talk) 05:56, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
