So what actually happened?[edit]

I can't help but notice this article doesn't actually describe any events, just background information. --NEMT 02:43, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • An aborted coup should be a very important historical event and I agree with the above commentator - this really need to be detailed (how was the coup stopped for instance?!?) and referenced. Observer31 03:39, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It has been suggested that the coup was aborted at the last minute. Some neo-fascists had already entered the interior ministry and were supposed to take over the national broadcasting centre as well. Intangible2.0 21:39, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
True, ASFAIK. This should be added to the article. Tazmaniacs 19:20, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If changed the lead (it should serve as a good summary of an expanded article). It is really hard to tell the extent of this attempt here, especially when you hear stories about the Italian Forest Rangers taking part in this or that the coup was called off because of heavy rain. Intangible2.0 01:12, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that an appeals process in 1984 cleared most if not all convictees, cannot find a good reference for this though. Another section in this article should make mention of what material evidence (very little I believe) and what circumstantial evidence was found. Maybe one can also discuss some of the theories that have been put forth regarding this whole affair. Intangible2.0 21:46, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is very unclear whether there actually was a coup plot, or whether this is the imagination of either journalists or individual fascists. Is there real hard evidence that a coup was planned?203.184.41.226 (talk) 04:34, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Events during Golpe Borghese[edit]

During night 7/8 december 187 soldiers of the Corpo Forestale dello Stato under command of colonel Luciano Berti has started to move towards Rome with aim to take Italian state television.
During that night second group of neo-fascist militants has entered Ministry of Interiors where they have started to load machine guns. Because of small number of militants this action has taken too much time
When there has been needed only 200 - 300 m between 187 soldiers of the Corpo Forestale dello Stato and state television somebody has stoped operation.
After that neo-fascist militants in Ministry of Interiors has recieved order to return weapons. 1 of militans has not returned 1 machine gun and during trial this missing weapon will be first of 2 evidence that something has really happened.
In other Italian towns members of right wing movements has been ready to take control after success of this 2 actions in Rome, but because of end of operation they will not play any role in golpe.
First serious investigation has started in 1974 when general of Italian secret services Gianadelio Maletti has discovered role of his commander Vito Miceli in this events and he has given his report to minister of defence
Because of many important persons involved in this coup trials has been farse.
During first trial court decision has been that this has not been armed rebellion because 187 soldiers of the Corpo Forestale dello Stato has not revolted because they have only traveled with wrong road and because of that only crime has been political conspiracy !?
During second trial judges has declared that nobody is guilty because coup has happened only in minds of old man.
During 3rd trial judges has confirmed decision of second.
Last trial will start after it has discovered that tape on which it has been recorded interogation of coup suspectes has been changed before first trial. Many names has been deleted. In 1997 Giulio Andreotti which has been minister of defense during deleting has declared that name has been deleted so that accusation will be easier to understand. It is important to notice that if coup has ended with succes new Italian president will be Giulio Andreotti. In the end last trial will end without convicton because too much time has passed from day when evidence is destroyed (This crime is discovered only in 1991).

Important men connected with Golpe[edit]

  • Giulio Andreotti former and future minister of interior and police. He will be declared prime minister or president if coup has been success. Conspiracy theory: Golpe is stoped because political agreement is reached that Giulio Andreotti will be new prime minister (this will happen 2 months after failed coup)
  • Vito Miceli commander of Italian military secret service
  • Licio Gelli leader of Propaganda Due which has recieved job to kidnap Italian president. His name is deleted from recordings (P2 has recieved that job).
  • Tommaso Buscetta of Italian mafia which has recieved job to kill police commander Angelo Vicari (Mafia has recieved that job).
  • admiral Giovanni Torrisi
  • Ugo Fenwich from US embassy has been contact with americans.
  • Colonels Amos Spiazzi, Giuseppe Lo Vecchio, Luciano Berti,

War Criminal?[edit]

In the introduction it states that ' It was named after Junio Valerio Borghese, an Italian World War II commander of the notorious Xª MAS unit, the "Black Prince", convicted of war crimes, but still a hero in the eyes of many post-War Italian fascists.', however in the Junio Valerio Borghese page it says that 'Borghese was then tried and convicted of collaboration with the Nazi invaders, but not of war crimes, by the Italian Court. He was "sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, discounted to 3 years, due to his glorious expeditions during the war, his defence of north east borders against Tito's IX Corpus and his defence of Genoa harbour".[5]' which would appear to be something of a contradiction. Since I don't speak Italian is anyone able to have a look and see which statement it correct?
