2005 boundary changes[edit]

I believe that in 2005 the constituency also lost an area covering a portion of the Moray council area. Laurel Bush 10:09, 17 July 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Yes, Keith went into Moray as is already mentioned in the article. Catchpole 11:06, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers. I've just spotted the ref to the Moray constituency, and I've added a ref to the council area.Laurel Bush 12:39, 17 July 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Dubious claim re 1992 and point about 1983[edit]

The statement "Malcolm Bruce subsequently increased his majority tenfold in 1987, before seeing it cut to just 274 in 1992, in new boundaries which benefited the Conservative Party" looks to be wrong. Their were no boundary changes anywhere in the UK between 1983 and 1997 (with the exception of the splitting of Milton Keynes into two seats for the 1992 election). Thus the Gordon seat Malcolm Bruce nearly lost in 1992 was identical to the one he had handsomely won in in 1987 and taken in 1983. It was for 1997 that the new boundaries were in place and it was estimated that had these been used in 1992 the seat would have comfortably returned a Conservative MP, hence the notional result given here, and the fact some 1997 election broadcasts referred to it as a Lib Dem gain. It might also be worth mentioning that in 1983 Gordon was estimated to have been a Conservative seat had it been contested on the 1983 boundaries in 1979. Nearly all election broadcasts and books about the election class it is a Liberal/Alliance gain. Dunarc (talk) 20:36, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
