I have suggested that Famous Gouds be merged into this article as it does not appeI<nowiki>Insert non-formatted text herensert non-formatted text here</nowiki>ar to comply with WP:NOT#DIR. In the meantime, it is possible it will be nominated for speedy deletion as it does not appear to comply with notability or attribution requirements. --ROGER TALK 09:06, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been monitoring the article Goud for some time. and its found that its growing like anything. And important conent like abt the cast , occupation remains almost same. people r adding list of people to the famous goud section day-by-day.This is common with any caste based article like Nair, List Famous of Nairs and Ezhava and List of famous ezhavas etc.....

horrendous list of names[edit]

Any ideas on what to do with this out of control list of names? It adds nothing of encyclopedic value to the article and is clearly being used for self satisfaction of generally non-notable people, who in turn are obscuring the genuinely notable ones who should be dealt with in detail. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Worky worky (talkcontribs) 17:57, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From Goudu article[edit]

The Goudu are a Adivasi people of Andhra Pradesh. They live in the Agency Tracts.

They are pastoralists as well as practitioners of both shifting and settled cultivation. In 1991 they numbered just over 33,000 people.

Changed to redirect. Pseudofusulina (talk) 06:26, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Eh? I do not understand what you mean by the above message. - Sitush (talk) 06:31, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Worked it out. There was an article - Goudu - that contained just the info "quoted" above. Pseudofusuline has boldly merged that info here and redirect Goudu to this article. - Sitush (talk) 06:35, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have redirect List of Gouds to this article. The list was validated over a period of some days and it turned out that nothing at all was correctly sourced. Being then an empty list, there is no immediate need for it. - Sitush (talk) 06:41, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Struck the above and reverted my action. There was an edit conflict at the list article, where someone was apparently starting to source it. See what comes out of that. - Sitush (talk) 07:02, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit[edit]

Hello, I have done a bit of copyediting of this page -- I also added in a link to a website that looked relevant and helpful. Comparing this with other 'caste' type pages, it looks like this is a stub that could use some more writing and 'stuff'! Very interesting about the palm wine and toddy as well. I was doing research on our Gowda caste from fast few years. what I came to know that Gowda is very big community in whole india. I observed one thing in this article that there is no relation between Goud/Gouda and Gowda/Vokalligas who are in karnataka. This is obsolutly wrong before putting this kind of informatio we need to do lot of research and then we need to post. check these below links according to that we are all one umbrella under Gowda community. Also if you check karnataka Vokkaliga Gowdas information they have 7 sub groups under it. 5th of those sub groups is that Namadhari/Healipak gowdas whic is clearly said that we have a relation to this Vokkaliga groups written by famous poet KUVEMPU from karnataka. Also they are so dominate people in karnataka if you only look at profession and say they are only gowda people then what about our Brahmin & kshatriya linage people like Gowda kshtriyas, Nadar Kshatriyas and Gowda saraswatha brahmins. they are all one under one umbrella (Koundinya) so if you want to consider our whole Gowda people from our anciant days then wee need to consider all of these people then only it will complete entire Gowda community people collection. In our community few people followed our Koundinya's orders on doing toddy tapping and few people were kings, rulers etc.....if you consider gotras of all these vokkaliga gowdas, andhra goudas & gowda sarswathi brahimins also have the same gotras. please check the below Vokkaliga Gowdas, Namadhari/Healipak Gowdas and Brahmins official website information where we can find out the roots of all of these communities and it syays that we are all one. please remove that information from this article where it is mentioned that we don't have any relation between gouda/Gowda.

1. https://te.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B0%97%E0%B1%8C%E0%B0%A1 2. https://www.trsiyengar.com/id279.shtml look at specially section 1.7 3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vokkaliga look at Namadhari Gowdas 4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namadhari_Naik look at Namadhari/Halepaiks gowdas who were once upon toddy profession supporters

A) When we say there were many kings from our community like chera, chola, pandya etc...then today why you are only focusing on toddy/liquor profession community groups and posting information about them only then what about those kings linage people like Vokkaliga Gowdask, Nadar kshatriyas, Gowda sarwathi brahimins? you mean all of those rulers & kings linage people left their profession and became only toddy tappers; so don't consider only them and post.

B) When our commnity is from great sage Koundinya then there were many people who are divided from him into different profession like Toddy, Rulers, Kings(Vokkaliga Gowdas, Nadar Kings), Brahimins(GSB), Vishyas(Jaiswals, Kalwal & Guptas). Then why don't you consider them and post their information also as our community?

C) Don't just look and consider few people by only Toddy profession and post only that information and don't say that we don't have relation with others like Vokkaligas, GSB's who are also the same community/linage from great sage Koundinya maharshi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.34.244.254 (talk) 04:31, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New suggested content[edit]

Santhoshgoudbandari, if you wish to add discussion to this page, please use the New Section button and put all of your content there. I'm also sorry to say that I don't think your content will be added to the article. By your own description it appears to be original research, which should not be included on Wikipedia. If that is not the case and you in fact can include references to reliable sources for this information, then it would certainly be possible to add it. -- Fyrael (talk) 14:45, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Where is history and origins man ,just simply putting on basis of occu[edit]

Please add history and origins , such as they are descendants of Brahmins from kaundinya sage , they are similar in terms of gotra with Karnataka gowdas and goud sarswat Brahmins and they're are originated from Bengal based kingdom name Gouda kingdom. which was before gupta period and during adishankaracharya period around 8th century the devas used to drink toddy (soma) and some of gouds used to teach making of soma medicine .so please add origin it will be better by knowing gotra and their varna in history just don't post Ambedkar british originated caste system.caste is completely different from varna , so please add origin and history.
