Perhaps the article can be reworded slightly by adding/editing that Grace Annie Lockhart (22 Feb 1855 – 18 May 1916) was the first woman to graduate with a university Degree not only in Canada, but also in the entire British Empire at the time and, thus, a significant contribution to the heritage of Canada. She received a Bachelor of Science and English Literature Degree (Science Baccalaureate) on 25 May 1875 from Mount Allison University, in New Brunswick, Canada.

She marks the first time in Canadian history that a woman claims full rights in the field of higher education.

In turn, she is an important Atlantic Canadian female figure in academia because her story aligns closely to Canada's philosophy on gender parity and Canada's spirit in being a nation of equality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.114.92.210 (talk) 00:10, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
