Importance of the article[edit]

I'm not at all sure I would agree with the assessment of this article as being of "Low" importance to the Wikipedia Wales Project. Low Importance articles are defined as being of "little importance to th(e) project, but cover(ing) a highly specific area of knowledge or an obscure piece of trivia." I think a list of some of the most important buildings in one of Wales's counties counts as more than an "obscure piece of trivia". I would actually rate it High, based on a criterion of "fairly important, covering a general area of knowledge." Looking at a small sample of articles currently rated of High importance, I find Arthur Gould, a 19th century rugby player, Castell Coch, a single Grade 1 Listed Building, Diana, Princess of Wales, ?? and Gavin & Stacey. Something not quite right on the calibrations? Thoughts? KJP1 (talk) 06:33, 21 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

British Listed Buildings discrepancies[edit]

I notice that the British Listed Buildings pages for Nos. 37, 38 and 39 Cross Street, Abergavenny, don't match up. The description text clearly refers to Cross Street but the 'Location' fields give somewhere completely different! The heading for each is simply "Nos. 37-40 (consec)", which suggests maybe someone at BLB didn't have time to sort this out so deleted the street name.
Either way, because the 3 shops (together with No. 40) form a block, I've combined the entries into one. Sionk (talk) 00:48, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Default sort for the Table[edit]

I've raised this before, although I can't remember where. I find having the CADW Historic Building Number (HB No.) as the default sort for the table really unhelpful. Firstly, the CADW number is completely unknown to almost everybody, and thus doesn't aid any reader wanting to search the list. I appreciate that readers can get around this by re-sorting, by name or location, but I don't think it's user-friendly. But my real dislike comes when one wants to edit the table, say by making a new page, as I did today for Abergavenny Bridge. I first have to re-sort the table alphabetically by name to find the entry. But as soon as one opens it up for editing, the table reverts to the CADW No. default. So, one has to look for the entry in this mode, estimate its position (say, one third of the way down the page), open the table, and then hunt for the entry to make the necessary edits. It would just be so much bloody easier, and user-friendly, if the default was alphabetic by name. It would also mean that related entries would appear together. I'm reluctant to make such a significant change without getting other views. KJP1 (talk) 11:46, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Redlinking[edit]

Anyone got any idea where some of these entries are redlinked and some aren't? KJP1 (talk) 13:44, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Bridge[edit]

Although its got two listings, 23490, here, [1] and 2704, here, [2], this is actually one bridge, with listings for both ends. I've combined. KJP1 (talk) 14:22, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(See British Listed Buildings discrepancies above) This is all a bit confusing, but the bottom line is that 37-39 Cross Street, Abergavenny, is the Gunter Mansion. The lack of clarity is shown below:

37 Cross Street [3] 38 Cross Street [4] 39 Cross Street [5] [6] 40 Cross Street [7] [8] 37-40 Cross Street [9]

No.40, which is listed with it, is Grade II on both BLB and Coflein. So, I'll rename 37-39 (with 40) the Gunter Mansion and change the image. KJP1 (talk) 18:08, 15 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Importance rating[edit]

Have changed the Wales: Project Importance Rating to High - "The article is fairly important to this project, as it covers a general area of knowledge." I think this better reflects the importance of the article to an understanding of Wales than the original Low. Others may disagree, in which case let's discuss it here. Photos[edit]

As already posted on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wales, photos of any of the missing buildings would be greatly appreciated. The majority needed are private homes so it would, of course, be important to be respectful of owners' privacy. This advice may be helpful. KJP1 (talk) 11:15, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Now done - although better images for some of the buildings would be much appreciated. KJP1 (talk) 19:47, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
