More information[edit]

This forum page, from Wigan History Search, provides some very useful additional information about the sough and its instigator. It seems that Sir Roger was responible for 1,121 yards beween 1652 and October 1670, and then another 330 yards shortly after that. It was in most parts 4ft wide and 4ft high. But I'm not sure what the primary sources were for this 2006 entry by "Old Timer". I was considering adding it as an external link to the article, but guessed that it would be reverted almost immediately by another editor, with a coment such as "ugh, blogsite not good enough". Name[edit]

Why do Ascot Environmental call it "Apsull Sough"? Who else calls it that? Are they wrong? Is Great Haigh Sough just the historical name? Which name should be used here and why? And where is Bottling Wood - is it in postcode WN1 along with the rest of Wigan Central or is it in WN2 with Aspull? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:31, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not to be confused with.. ?[edit]

Should the article be given the header:

As both places are in Lancashire and are relatively little-known, they might easily be confused. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:13, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Great Haigh Sough. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

  • Attempted to fix sourcing for //www.coal.gov.uk/environmental/england/aspullsoughminewatertreatmentscheme.cfm

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}).
