External Links to Green College and Green College Dining Society sites[edit]

The article has links to both Green College and the Green College Dining Society (GCDS) web sites. These are separate organisations, so I think it is relevant to have links to both, according to WP:EL. When I fill in the content of the article it will be clearer why both are relevant. The fact that GCDS borrows web space from the Green College web site makes this distinction less clear. User:Ardenn or any others who wish to delete the GCDS link, let's discuss it here. --Jdlh | Talk 04:00, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see why the Dining Society is relevant except that they feed people. Ardenn 04:07, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply, Ardenn. I may have to block out some time and actually write the Green College article I have in mind to make this clear. Essentially the story is: community building through dining together is an explicit part of the Green College mission; the founders of the College hit on the idea of a separate non-profit corporation (the GCDS) to operate the meal plan so that the University Food Service department wouldn't have to; and in recent times the separate nature of the GCDS has become an issue of contention at the college. So, pointing to the Dining Society web site is important for explaining the food as a part of the Green College program, showing the structure of Green College, and telling the story of recent College history. (I live at Green, which is why I know this stuff.) --Jdlh | Talk 16:12, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then yes, you need to write it up and back it up with references. Otherwise the link as it stands really doesn't add anything to the article. Ardenn 20:52, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Loooong list of references[edit]

I've been adding a lot of citations to a bulleted list in the References section. This is a temporary measure to put them on the record. They are sources that I hope will be useful in expanding the article's coverage. As you (and I) expand the article, please move these citations out of the bulleted list and into ref.../ref tags in the body of the article. The list is hopefully a temporary resting place. --Jdlh | Talk 05:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have a lot more information on slope stability and erosion prevention that is related to the physical college grounds but is excessive to cite in the article. Should I include it in the references list? --SpaceMika 20:59, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, at least that gets it on the record for other editors to work with. Consider putting it under University of British Columbia, though. It really applies to the whole Point Grey campus, not just Green College. The UBC article already talks about the Grand Campus Washout of 1935. --Jdlh | Talk 03:28, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't the right way to use the reference section. If no text in the article actually references an item, it shouldn't appear in the references list. Maybe an external link, if the item actually satisfies the guidelines at Wikipedia:External links. Those that are neither references nor proper external links can be placed in a new section on this discussion page. Sancho 23:08, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Iii063 19950017 arms2 gre s.jpg[edit]

Image:Iii063 19950017 arms2 gre s.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Added a fair use rationale tag to the image page, as requested. --Jdlh | Talk 02:39, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've move a set of citations that were in the reference section, but not being used in the article to here. As we work them into the article, feel free to strike them out in this list and add them into the article using the <ref></ref> tags.

possible vandalism?[edit]

Someone might want to check the ‎Social and Community Activities section. It was edited by 128.189.135.239 on 29 August 2011. Among other things, that edit changed references from German to Klingon and from the Knitting Circle to the Quiddich Club, and added a very skewed-looking description of a proposed garden expansion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.8.176.228 (talk) 18:15, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
