Year of birth[edit]

The infobox states 1951, but the lead paragraph states 1957. Which is it? ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 04:52, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

__ Gurdas Maan __

Dear Friend, This refers to the following revision on above mentioned page :Revision as of 18:31, 28 September 2013(Rv GF edit. A photograph of a billboard doesn’t seem particularly relevant.)

Mr. Maan is a very famous singer in this region with an iconic status and cult fan following. The photograph was not of any advertisement billboard, It's a restaurant's facade, showing the resturant(called 'dhaba' in local language) owner's liking and dedication towards this legendary singer. This photo has been clicked by myself and was pasted in this article to give a slight idea the fan following of this artist in this area. Also, I'm still working on collecting material and references to update this article on English as well as local language wikis and I'll be mentioning the above justification of this image, Though It may take some time to finalise the article.
So I do hope you'll consider to revert your edit.
Thanks.--Manojkhurana (talk) 12:53, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not really sure I see the relevance of a particular fan's devotion to the artist (at least without some further notability), and your own photo of such, without additional sources, would seem to at least border on having a WP:NOR problem. The photos in Michael Jackson#Death and memorial, which might be considered a similar use, are indicative of Jackson's large base of fans, and support the extensively sourced section, but again, I don't think a *single* fan's actions would be generally considered appropriate. Native[edit]

@Cyphoidbomb: Sir, Is "native" and "place of birth" same? As per Place of birth:

The place of birth is not necessarily the place where the parents of the new baby live. If the baby is born in a hospital in another place, that place is the place of birth. In many countries, this also means that the government requires that the birth of the new baby is registered in the place of birth.

The article link [1] says the subject and his mother are natives of Giddarbaha but nothing about place of birth is written. As per above excerpt, the native place of the family might be different than the place of birth of the subject. In that case, equating native to birth place would be an WP:OR isn't it sir? For now I'm putting it in the Personal life section since Infobox musical artist has no place for native. Kindly help. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:28, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fylindfotberserk: Typically speaking "native" implies where a person was born, but I guess it could also mean "home town", so maybe it's best not to make an assumption. You might consider asking at WikiProject Biography to see how other editors might treat it. Or you might get a quicker answer at the Help Desk. @Cyphoidbomb: Thanks for the suggestion sir. But for now this link put by that IP editor will do. It is in Punjabi but his DoB, place of birth is clearly mentioned. As for the IP, can he be blocked for harassment? I'd issued him a level4 warning on harassment but he still harassed me. See here and here. He talks all sorts of non-sense, ranting about anti-Sikh sentiment, current Prime Minister of India, Indo-Aryans, Hindu vs Sikh and what not only because I said the source is not explicit. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:15, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: It looks like he's already been hit with a block. If the abuse continues after the block expires, let me know and I'll deal with it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:03, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb: I'll surely do so Sir. This person reported me to the ANI calling me an Anti-Sikh propagandist. I explained clearly what I actually wanted from the references. I lodged a Harassment Complaint of my own against this IP. It got blocked for 2 weeks link. He even badmouthed Utcursch. Sorry for the late reply Sir, suffering from flu. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:08, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
