Congratulations on your first DYK submission, Pbritti! The article is well written, interesting, and very readable. It is new enough, long enough, well sourced, and neutral. I don’t find any copyvios. QPQ is not needed. But I do have a problem with your proposed hooks - two problems, actually. First, you say "divine punishment", and you quote the hook's source as saying "divine retribution", but the source actually says "divine intervention" which is not the same thing. Second, all the hooks seem to state, in Wikipedia’s voice, that there actually was a definite connection between the fire and divine punishment; we can't do that. Can you come up with a hook that says "divine intervention" as per the hook, and that attributes the claim to a source? Ping me when you reply. -- MelanieN (talk) 18:59, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, MelanieN! I'm still trying to learn how to do the playful voice that seems to come through in DYK blurbs, so I appreciate the pointers. Perhaps a more appropriate hook would be

Thanks, Pbritti. I still have a problem with "divine retribution" when the source said "divine intervention". Otherwise that hook would work, but it is a bit of a head-scratcher, as in "retribution for what"? I gather it was a humorous reference to the fact that a church had been opened the day before? If you would rather leave that as a puzzlement - something to make people click on the hook to find out what you are talking about - I could accept that. But I do need the hook to represent the source accurately. BTW whenever you suggest a new hook you should format it and number it; I will do that with the one you just suggested. -- MelanieN (talk) 20:24, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, MelanieN! Problematically, Wikipedia distinguishes between Divine Intervention and Divine Retribution. The source calls it divine intervention, so maybe I'll adjust the article as such. If you would accept

Pbritti, MelanieN: Unfortunately, the hook is inaccurate in its basic claim: it was Red Mountain Town where the commercial district burned on the day after Guston's church opened, and the reason "divine intervention" was involved is that Red Mountain Town had refused Rev. Davis's request to open a church there, so he went to Guston instead (and Red Mountain residents believed they were punished by the deity). Guston: unburnt. Red Mountain Town: burnt. This needs a completely new hook, so I'm reopening the nomination so things can start over. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:03, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@BlueMoonset: Wow, thanks for catching this! You are right, that is what this reference says. You had to read it closely to see that the fire and the claims of divine intervention were in Red Mountain Town - a place which doesn't even have an article here, although there is a mention of "the town of Red Mountain" here and a reference to "the ghost town mining camp of Red Mountain Town" here. @BlueMoonset: @MelanieN:: Thank you! Glad you guys noticed all that. I'm not entirely sure if the article requires alteration as the fire is described as a conflagration in Red Mountain Town. However, the hook requires fixing so I submit this alternative for approval.

I did add some clarification to the article, because I thought it necessary to establish why the folks in Red Mountain Town felt that way. The hook looks fine to me. Following some hiccups, this article and that for Red Mountain Town, Colorado were accepted for usage in the 15 March 2021 WP:DYK.
