I've recently expanded this article, but happy to discuss any further changes. Bermicourt (talk) 08:12, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So was I. I'm strongly against the Location section you wrote. Vogtland is historical region, inappropriate for the description of the geomorphological element. Places in the vicinity are also inappropriate as this is encyclopedy, not tourist guide, the mountain is entirely in Aš. Historical names like Asch also have nothing to do here. You also constantly remove sourced information about the observation tower I added. And you just reverted it once again before you even gave me chance to write this. FromCzech (talk) 08:19, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Adding a reference to lead is also not OK. Fichtel Mountains is the common name uses in English, for ENG wiki is no need to add the Czech name Smrčiny too. FromCzech (talk) 08:25, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I see where you're coming from. Let's break this down.
Firstly, a "Bismarck tower" is a generic name for this type of tower, not just the proper name. So it is still "a Bismarck tower" even if it's been renamed. That said, I don't have a problem with your name change in the infobox, but you may wish to tweak your text in the history section as it's not quite right now. BTW the other 2 Bismarck towers in Czechia are at Cheb and Mikulášovice. The list is at de:Liste von Bismarcktürmen and I'm sure we could find a source for them if we wanted to.
Secondly, I'm not really fussed about your changes to the location section, although I equally can't see why there's an objection. The villages exist and the description wasn't touristy; if you don't like the regional name Vogtland, you could use the Czech Fojtsko. But I personally don't care.
Thirdly, I don't think you can dismiss historical names in a blanket fashion. The history of Bohemia is incomplete without mentioning the Germans who were a major element of its population, culture and architecture. You can still see that today when you visit the area, even though the Germans were driven out. But I agree it needs to be balanced.
I didn't mean to remove sourced information about the tower - that was just an oversight. I'm sure you've replaced it.
It is perfectly acceptable to cite information in the lede, albeit not necessary if it's cited in the main body of the text, which it currently isn't. We could add the reference to the infobox if you prefer.
And please calm down. I'm simply trying to improve Wikipedia, as you are. Cheers. Bermicourt (talk) 08:51, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Do you know any Czech card games? :) Bermicourt (talk) 09:00, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
1) I left the information about the type there ("it is one of 3 B. towers in CR"), feel free to add a reference.
2) Karlovy Vary Region is the proper term today, if you want to mention the region.
3) Historical names are part of the respective pages of municipalities. As I have already written, it does not belong to the geomorphological element.
4) OK.
5) I added the reference into the body (it was a part of the observation tower reference), so it was needless in the lede. But examples from other mountains show that there is no need to cite the fact that a mountain is the highest mountain of a mountain range.
6) I'm calm (now). This site was basically not improved for 5+ years, so I was surprised that in the middle of my work someone jumped into it.
P.S. If you mean those that were invented here and got into the world, maybe Mariáš, but it was inspired by some German games :) FromCzech (talk) 09:25, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I think we both started expanding the article at the same time and trod on each other's toes, but it's come together now. Re cards: I'm a card game researcher and interested in any traditional Czech games especially those that aren't known outside the country. Both historically and also how people play such games today. Some Czech friends kindly sent me some of your traditional cards (Jednohlavé?), which I love, and I'm interested in finding out what is (or was) played with them. Bermicourt (talk) 11:01, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am an avid active player (especially the gambling card games, which are Mariáš and Poker), so I know a thing or two about card games :) The traditional Czech cards (Bohemian pattern, in Czech jednohlavé, literally "one-headed") are for the same games as German-suited playing cards, they just have different design. I think the most played game in the Czech Republic is Prší. Other games we played frequently as children were Sedma, Oko / Jednadvacet (32-cards variation of Pontoon), Kent (32-cards variation of Kemps), or Vole padni. Mariáš and Kent are the best if you are not a child anymore :) FromCzech (talk) 11:34, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
