Notability[edit]

Thanks, BoyTheKingCanDance, for placing the notability tag. The advice that I give to editors like Moondragon21 is that during an election campaign, stay clear of creating bios for political candidates. In New Zealand, we have a project set up where draft bios get created for candidates who have a chance of making it into parliament. Being in 10th place on the Green Party list, she most certainly stands a solid chance, so this should have been the default action. I don't think that Moondragon21 is a New Zealander (correct me if I'm wrong) and if that's correct, is likely unaware of this process. We could, of course, move this article to this project space.

Notability of this article is somewhat borderline as it stands. The New Zealand Herald article Ngātiwai Trust Board appoints Hūhana Lyndon as new CEO is certainly a solid reference that discusses her in depth. The article Five minutes with the new Ngātiwai Trust Board CEO Hūhana Lyndon is an interview and thus less relevant. Although the Green Party candidate list includes nine Māori, one less than proposed article is about the Green Party list, is has a surprisingly strong emphasis on discussing Lyndon. The Ngātiwai Trust Board CEO Hūhana Lyndon standing for Greens at October’s general election article is another solid ref that discusses Lyndon in depth. The article Marae worked tirelessly through cyclone, but shouldn't be left to fill in gaps is an opinion piece written by her and thus doesn't count. All in all, one has to be a bit charitable to say that the sources that are in the article make a strong case for notability. It's a bit sketchy really.

I've had a look what else is out there. Two outlets discuss a concern raised by Lyndon with regards to Cyclone Gabrielle in some detail (The Spinoff and Stuff). The Northern Advocate covers her response to the Abbey Caves disaster in some detail. Stuff ran an article last year Government's $55m funding to help whānau living in tents and cars in Northland that focusses on Lyndon's response to an issue. Lyndon is extensively quoted by Radio New Zealand in the Northland hīkoi protests exclusion from decision-making on land use article from 2021. Together with what we've already got in the article, the notability threshold seems to be cleared nicely.

Just for the avoidance of doubt, all of the news outlets listed above are established and solid outfits. If you concur with my assessment, BoyTheKingCanDance, please remove the notability tag. If you don't concur, please so say. And just to reiterate, Moondragon21, if you are thinking of covering other New Zealand candidates, please head to the project space and create drafts there; alternatively, please write bios that are rock-solid.
