Meaning?

"...an unremittingly hearty man, who even his friend and collaborator Gerard Fairlie described as "not everybody's cup of tea". Does this mean 'hearty' as in the old-style university sportsmen who liked to tease (or worse) the aesthetes?

Also, if such a 'hearty' man died at 48, what of? 109.154.9.58 (talk) 23:03, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Cause of early death?

Forty-eight seems very young for such a vigorous man to die. What was the cause? 109.154.12.212 (talk) 12:36, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

The Oxford DNB says that it was "of illness traceable to his war service" - I've now added that, and citation to the article. - SchroCat (^@) 12:39, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Infobox

I've made a few tweaks to the infobox here, correcting a couple of bits, adding the right format and changing it to a more general template, rather than the writer specific one (something we did at Ian Fleming as it avoids pigeonholing someone who had more than one career). I'm going to be adding a lot more info in the coming months and ideally I would like to remove the infobox entirely as part of that re-write process and just have an image in place. I find the summary boxes are inadequate at summing up the life of an individual and contain mere repetitions of a few minor and trite facts that are best left in the article. Before I remove it, does anyone object? I'd rather have a chat here first before starting out on an edit/revert cycle. Many thanks - SchroCat (talk) 06:45, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
