Notability tag[edit]

I have removed the notability tag because it doesn't apply. Nicholas meets WP:NACADEMIC unequivocally: he was a fellow of the British Academy (criteria #3) and held a named chair (criteria #5). He also has a whole article in a scholarly journal devoted to his life and work, which is cited in the article. A quick look at that reveals that he was the subject of an obituary in The Independent on 18 July 1998 and The New College Record (1998), pp. 71 to 76. I've just checked and he was the subject of an obituary in The Times as well (7 July 1998). —Noswall59 (talk) 14:50, 8 April 2021 (UTC).[reply]
