Pen / Digitizer[edit]

If im not mistaken, the hp slate is one of the very few slates which comes along with a pen/wacom/digitizer. Right or wrong? - If right - better insert it into the text cause it would be a (almost) unique feature, especially in combination with windows 7 (tabinput), office 2010 and onenote 2010, inkseine, journal etcpp... -- Morbyte (talk) 19:09, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is mentioned in the hardware section. Remember this article is not an advert, but a description of the device. Placelimit (talk) 08:37, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The digitizer in HP Slate 500 is actually N-Trig DuoSense. -- Ylai (talk) 00:47, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Other Tablets[edit]

The dimensions (inches vs cm) are reversed 192.197.71.189 (talk) 19:13, 18 May 2010 (UTC) Is it really useful to link to other tablets / slates? There are so many of them now, and the list is very limited... Maybe remove this part? Placelimit (talk) 15:57, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WebOS / Windows 7[edit]

It'd be a pretty big rewrite of this article, but it seems a given that the slate will be webos and not windows 7. It would probably make sense to remove all windows 7 references until it's released at minimum for now. The slate PC using WebOS is NOT a given. HP only recently acquired Palm and it will take quite a while to adapt it to the slate form factor. Also Microsoft showed off the HP slate at CES, and HP wouldn't want to anger them by ditching Windows. Following the link from your link HP said they "plan to adopt the webOS platform as a consideration for smartphones and other mobile devices", without specifically stating the slate and "as a consideration" sounds like maybe a dual boot solution, or maybe they're just looking at WebOS but aren't committed to it yet. For now we should stick to Windows 7 being used unless HP makes an official statement. Mizon (talk) 08:13, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But always following the official announcements sounds like a recipe for surprises. Andries (talk) 08:19, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's incredibly annoying how everyone thinks their ditching windows 7 for webOS, they never have claimed that, so the stupid jump to conclusions should end... It doesn't go anywhere... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.234.22.16 (talk) 08:21, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I edited in that WebOS may be used. It would be strange if they did not use WebOS for a tablet, though, I admit, not necessarily this tablet. Andries (talk) 07:42, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Stop doing that. First of all, HP never ever gave any indication de HP Slate would get any other OS then Windows 7. In fact in the last month it been confirmed (AGAIN) that it will still run Windows 7. Agreed, I wanted already self-revert. Andries (talk) 19:16, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

I think someone should add a picture. I for the life of me cannot figure out how, even though I am generally pretty good with html and computers in general. Right now cnet.com has some pictures that were email to them by some insider that would be perfect.

Heres is the link to the article.

New name is HP Slate 500[edit]

HP finally released the tablet to the public under the name HP Slate 500: http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/HP-unveils-799-tablet-PC-feel-rsg-2575748106.html?x=0&.v=1 This page will need to get updated to reflect the name, get rid of old facts, rumors, and so on.  Done as much as I can see needs doing and I have patience for. If you see anything else you think needs doing, feel free to change it yourself. C628 (talk) 01:02, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
