On 1 May 2022, it was proposed that this article be moved from Barrette to Hair clip. The result of the discussion was moved.

Ugly/beautiful[edit]

That's a hideous barrette of a bad colour that doesn't even match the person's hair. Is there a better picture of nicer barrette? --WongFeiHung 22:09, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is the example photo hideous, but I would argue it isn't even really a barrette--I think barrettes are typically clips that are hinged on one side and openable on the other, while the thing in the photo is some sort of woven affair with a stick shoved through both ends. -- Tina 7:38, 16 June 2007

British english[edit]

I've heard both hair slide and hair clip in the UK. In Australia, a hair clip is very different to a bobby pin, which would only refer to a hairpin or as the Brits call them, Kirby grips.Segat1 (talk) 04:51, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
