Merger proposal[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The final consensus is to merge after unanimous agreement. Elspamo4 (talk) 01:06, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we should merge it because HBKU Press is a completely separate entity from BQFP. BQFP doesn't exist anymore. That was the whole point of making the HBKU Press page. Mahaabdelwahab (talk) 10:55, 13 February 2019 (UTC)mahaabdelwahab[reply]

  • Thank you for coming here. Reading the articles, it seems to me that HBKU press was started under the name BQFP and then changed owners who changed the name. Given that BQFP doesn't exist any more, it may be best to merge the two articles accordingly. --Randykitty (talk) 12:17, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with RandyKitty that this should probably be merged. From what I understand, HBKU Press isn't a new entity but a continuation of BQFP, only under a new name and new management. Elspamo4 (talk) 06:51, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your input. I believe the suggestion to merge the pages is valid, but we should make sure BQFP is sub-categorized under the HBKU Press page, not the other way around. BQFP doesn’t exist anymore and now the relevant name of the existing, working and functioning company is HBKU Press. BQFP is part of HBKU Press’s history, it is the more current entity. HBKU Press is a big name in Qatar. It is under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation and university of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, a university that is named after the former Qatari Emir’s name which also holds significance in and of itself. I believe it should have its own page. Mahaabdelwahab

Yep HBKU would most definitely be the main subject of the article and will still be the article title, it's just that the information on the BQFP would also be incorporated. It'd be no different than copy-pasting the relevant information from BQFP into this article and then redirecting BQFP to here (a little copy editing would be required). See merge. It's a very small article with a lot of overlapping information so it won't be much hassle. I'd be happy to do so, provided we have consensus and there are no objections. Okay, I consent to merging the BQFP page into the HBKU Press page by adding a section under HBKU’s history titled BQFP. I would appreciate it if all users can verify their consent to the merge before I follow through. Mahaabdelwahab (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 07:11, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
